Extinction

In 2013, the script was selected as one of Black List's best screenplays of the year. Interestingly, although the number of votes was not high, I also saw the American sniper bought by Bradley Cooper in the same ranking. It is also an interesting discovery.

In addition, you don't need to give Netflix much credit/critiques. This movie is what Universal didn't want after shooting. Netflix just bought it and added a Netflix Original gimmick to give itself a play. The film was originally scheduled to be released this spring, but I don't know why it was cancelled by universal. Originally, it was a small-cost production, and the director and screenwriter were unknown. I secretly regretted Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan.

After watching the movie, the overall feeling is Michael or the supporting master as always. first hero made him live as a passer-by with a low sense of existence in the dust. Although due to the plot, the hero should be an engineer with wooden feet, and when the truth comes out, it makes people feel that the wooden man is reasonable, but the first half of the movie was robbed by neighbors. I once thought he wanted soy sauce, which also made me a little cry and laugh.

It can only be said that because of the script, the characters have nothing to play, and everyone's acting skills are quite satisfactory. Sometimes I see them standing in the room or sitting under the table without cover, even hiding so amateurish. In the game world, I can't help but play all the time ... Moreover, the relationship between the characters in the movie is too weak. In some crisis times, it is necessary to use words and dialogue to create conflicts. Many unimportant scenes have to be added because of the reasons of promoting the plot, which leads to the slow pace of the initial part of the crisis. The director's level can be seen to be obviously deficient here, so he needs more shots to tell the story, but at the same time, for this reason, other scenes will appear weaker in contrast, giving people a feeling that the story is not focused. It is also (in the early stage) artificial intelligence which does not show too many characters' emotions: AI can feel obvious differences when it is shot by Spielberg. Other films with similar background settings, such as I, Robot I, Robot, and Bicentennial Man, are performed by very attractive and tensive actors, which will make up for the negative impact of the lack of scripts on the film's expressive force to a great extent.

Nightmare and flashback fragments are very fragmented, but fortunately, the frequency of occurrence is high enough, and the main scenes are all buckled after the memory emerges, which also explains why some scenes did not happen after the spacecraft landed. This is mainly combined well with the trailer, which gives a hint that the movie is an alien invasion protagonist, and because of the ability of "predicting", it starts to kill and save the family and all mankind. With the development of the film process, the audience will realize that they have been cheated by the trailer, but the 180-degree conversion between the protagonist and the enemy's identity is enough for people to keep enough attention until the end of the film.

The background of the story described in the script is very good, and it shows the contradiction between biochemical people and human beings from the perspective of a family. It also metaphors various conflicts between races and countries in today's world, so as to underestimate the big, and at the same time, it also brings the meaning of throwing away anti-war (although it seems that it is not in the end). After understanding the whole story in the second half, I have been thinking that this is not a secret war of aggression. Even though there were irreconcilable contradictions between the two races at that time, the anti-aggression launched against the former aggressors 50 years later is still contrary to human nature. Whether it's a devastated bioroid family or a soldier on the front line, it's ironic to find that they have changed from victims to just crusades, and that their so-called revenge and land recapture are based on the blood of the other side, especially after such a long time, the hatred of their parents is borne by the younger generation.
