The cast of Endicott College's 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' having a blast.

Are you saying you don’t know how to time warp? We’ll show you!

Endicott College Mainstage presents The Rocky Horror Picture Show. A newly engaged couple’s car breaks down one night in the pouring rain. Figuring they can use the phone at a mansion, Brad and Janet are in for the wildest night of their lives with Dr. Frank-n-Furter.

It’s safe to say that everybody in the audience had an insanely awesome night at Endicott College’s production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I watched the 1975 film version on TV when I was a kid, but clearly, I was too young to appreciate it. I had the time of my life experiencing the animated energy, fun, and talents of the cast.

Not just one, but the entire cast of Endicott College lit up the stage. Dressed in crazy outfits, the exuberant energy was a highlight of the evening. A lot of rehearsal went into all the dance numbers. For a show like this, the cast had to get very friendly with one another.

Lauren DiCocco’s performance as Frank N’ Furter erupted a round of smashing applause. The theater is all about embracing new boundaries. DiCocco tremendously stole the show with her depiction of this iconic deviant personality.

As the unlucky (or you could say lucky) couple who wind up in the fun, Nate Magoon and Ashley Olson were terrific. Having spats about their relationship, they’re given a very different talk about connection.

There’s no such thing as a small part in the theater. Mia Sbalbi (Riff Raff) started up Time Warp. Libby Evan was terrific as the narrator. Thomas Rocco (Rocky) was especially noteworthy in his performance. A lot made up their own improvisations.

‘Time Warp’ was the highlight song of the evening. Everyone danced to their highest energy. Other notable songs include ‘Over at the Frankenstein Place’, ‘Planet Schmanet’, and a load of songs that’ll make you dance in your seat (which I was doing). A live orchestra sat on the balconies of the set.

From dazzling lights, enhanced sound, and an array of costumes, makeup, and hairstyles, a lot went into bringing this upbeat production to its feet. The set was fantastic. Props are important for this show. Even audience members supplied their own props, waving glow sticks in the dark.

When I say that the entire audience was having fun, I mean just that. Applauding, yelling out catchphrases and having the opportunity to dance with actors, I am never going to forget this night. My cheeks hurt so much from smiling.

That was director Katie Clarke’s main intent. Instilling that everyone in the cast was comfortable, she encouraged everyone to project their wild creative sides. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is not your average show. I am proud of Clarke for courageously stepping forward to construct this incredible ride.

As Clarke explained, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a very different show from what the performing arts center has done in the past. She included everyone on the college campus, listening to opinions and partnering with YWCA Rape Crisis Center to take part in consent workshops with the cast.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is not for all audiences. This production is rated R for sexual content, language, and mature subject matter. If you are going to attend a showing, it’s best to research this show.

I highly recommend that you go see The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Endicott College over the weekend. It is a high-energy production that will make your evening. Better hurry because tickets are running out fast to the time warp.
