Easy LinkedIn Content Scheduling Explained
#LinkedInMarketing

LinkedIn has now rolled out a scheduling feature for personal profiles AND company pages. If you don’t have it yet, it should be coming very soon. You can tell if you have it by the little clock icon next to the “post” button. Click on the icon to set up a scheduled day and time to post. Learn more below!

From the LinkedIn help center about profile post scheduling:
You can now create posts and schedule them to go live at a later time. You can also view the list of all the posts that you’ve scheduled.
Currently, scheduling posts is not supported for the following types of posts:
- Events
- Jobs
- Services
If you add any of the above types to your post, you will see an error message indicating that scheduling is not supported for that post. Either clear the selected date/time to post immediately or remove the invalid post type.
From the LinkedIn help center about scheduling company page posts:
As a super or content admin of a Page, you can schedule a post or newsletter article to be published at a date and time that you choose. You can schedule a post between an hour and three months in advance. After you schedule a post, you can’t edit the content of the post, but you can reschedule or delete it.
You can view, reschedule, and delete posts scheduled by other admins. If an admin is removed from your Page, any scheduled posts from that admin will be transferred to the admin who removed them.
A scheduled post won’t be available to promote in Campaign Manager through Browse existing content until after it’s published to the Page.

You can schedule three months out, but only certain kinds of content can be scheduled. For instance, you can’t schedule a poll. Once you’ve selected your date and time, it will take you back to your original post where you can then finish writing it.

Once your post is written and you’ve verified the date and time is correct, you can hit the “schedule” button and submit it into the schedule. You can view all previously scheduled posts on the previous screen when you select the date and time.

*As of this writing, the scheduling option is not available for company pages yet, but that is hopefully coming next!
But in a recent LinkedIn newsletter, the option to schedule articles is coming soon.
*UPDATE: You can now schedule posts on company pages. It’s done the exact same way as personal profiles.

That’s it! Super easy to schedule posts and a very useful tool to beef up your posting schedule and fill in gaps. Don’t post on weekends? Now you can without actually having to post in real time. Can’t post every day? Schedule out content for the whole week in one evening. The possibilities are endless.
TechCrunch had some thoughts on this new feature:
While millions of marketers, influencers and “thought leaders” the world over will no doubt rejoice at this new feature, it is worth noting that similar functionality has been available for a while already through third-party platforms such as Hootsuite and Buffer. However, not everyone is happy giving third-party platforms access to their LinkedIn accounts for data-privacy reasons — plus, native functionality is nearly always more convenient, particularly for those who only want to share a specific piece of content to their LinkedIn followers.
In truth, native post-scheduling has always been a fairly notable absence from such a widely used social network as LinkedIn that claims some 875 million members globally. The likes of Twitter (via TweetDeck) and Facebook have offered scheduling for a while already, not to mention email clients such as Gmail that allow you to send messages while you’re fast asleep.
