‘Dracula and other vampire movies’ is my collection of vampire movies. These are movies I love to watch on Halloween or any time of the year. These are movies and watch again and again, without getting bored or tired of them, finding something new in them each time.

It’s a great movie playlist for a vampire movie marathon and anyone who loves vampire stories. Just keep all your favourite snacks and movie foods and drinks nearby because if you are something like me, you won’t want to leave your vampire marathon, not even for one minute.

These films have been my inspiration for some of my vampire drabbles and other slightly longer microfiction or short stories.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula is one of my favourite works of fiction. From time to time, I get obsessed with watching vampire movies, which is when I plan a vampire movie marathon.

I have included some classics because I personally love classics. I admire what film studios accomplished in the past where there was less technology available and their main resources were the imagination and creativity of scriptwriters and filmmakers.

These below are links to full movies and they are free to watch on YouTube, except one that is available to buy or rent. It’s time to switch the lights off and watch the vampires.

The Kiss of The Vampire (1963) (full movie)

Fantastic movie! I love classic films. This film is aesthetically beautiful. The setting, the clothing, the attention to detail, the storytelling. Kiss of the Vampire tells the story of a young couple who upon arriving to a small village are invited to a party in the castle of the most powerful man in the area. The party doesn’t go as expected, though. You certainly don’t expect the end, which is surprisingly adequate to a vampire movie. This movie will keep you interested in the plot and entertained. Without being too scary and on the light side of the vampire spectrum films, it’s an excellent choice for a Halloween night, or any night.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)((Full movie commentary by Director Francis Ford Coppola)

What can I say about one of my favourite works of fiction? This 1992 film is based on the original Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula and is a cinematic work of art without a doubt. This is the full movie commentary by Director Francis F. Coppola, and a must-watch if you love Coppola’s films, vampire films, horror films, any good film, or love the Dracula story. I can just say this is a fantastic movie, one of my favourites. The costumes and the cinematography are great. The dramatic soundtrack kept me almost hypnotised. A masterpiece of cinematography delivering an impeccable version of Dracula.

Dark Prince: The True Story of Dracula (2000) (full movie)

I watched The Dark Prince: The True Story of Dracula quite recently for the first time. I can’t understand how I missed this film before. I loved it. This is not a story about vampires but rather, as the title says, a film based on the true story of Vlad Dracula of Romania, beautifully played by Rudolf Martin. This is a must watch.

The Black Castle (1952) (full movie)

With great actors such as Richard Green, Boris Karloff, and Lon Chaney Jr., beautiful costumes and music so delightful that is a balm to the ears, this is a classic movie from the days when Hollywood produced quality films. Those days are forever gone, which makes me appreciate classic films even more. I truly enjoyed this film and loved the beauty of classic cinema. This is a gem worth watching if you appreciate the art of classic filmmaking.

The Witch (full movie)

Nicolas Cage is one of my favourite actors and he is fantastic in this movie. A mix of adventure, the Crusades, witch hunt, evil forces, and a twist at the end that no one expects. Perhaps not a typical vampire movie but one that deserves to be on this list because it’s simply a great movie. Nicolas Cage plays a Knight who returns to Europe and finds it ravaged by the Black Plague. He and his friends are tasked with taking a woman accused of witchcraft to a far away remote abbey where her faith will be decided, for some reason, by the monks in the abbey. The witch is carried in a cage and fed through the bars. The journey is long and strange things begin to happen … until they arrive to their destination.

Interview with a vampire (1994) (buy or rent)

This is a Gothic horror film with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt as vampires, and is certainly a treat. The sole concept of interviewing a vampire is fascinating. Get your popcorn and ice-cream ready. The film is based on the 1976 novel ‘Interview with the Vampire’ by Anne Rice. The plot is superb. Despite being a story about vampires, it explores countless human emotions, human relationships, love and betrayal, life and longevity, and the lack of human understading for certain things which, if adopted, will lead to power. The layers in this movie are impressive, indeed.

If you like this genre, you will certainly enjoy these movies. What is your favourite vampire movie?
