Disney Plus Hotstar and JioCinema Merge Update

For a long time, the news of the merger of Disney Plus Hotstar and JioCinema was at its peak. I mean, it was being said that by December, this merging would be completed, and we would get to see a new platform named JioHotstar.

Many updates kept coming, but December and January are half over, and there is no news.

Well, Disney Plus Hotstar had a good subscription base when they had IPL.

After the IPL and some matches, their audience has decreased somewhat. However, despite this decrease, the number of subscribers they have is not less, they are in a good amount.

On the other hand, we see JioCinema which is acquiring and buying a lot of content and the good thing is that the external content that they are bringing, be it of Peacock TV or HBO Max, they are dubbing it in Hindi, which no one had even thought of dubbing before JioCinema, so their strategy is quite good and their premium subscribers are somewhere completely happy with this and when IPL comes, their audience and their popularity are at their peak.

Now see, all the things were finalized, JioHotstar was almost done but their initial economy team somewhere thought that if merging happened then there would be a loss because right now two subscriptions are running, one of Jio and one of Hotstar, but if they become one then the audience will be cut somewhere, meaning the audience will benefit but they will not benefit, now for this reason keeping this thing in mind, this merging will not happen now.

As you know, ZEE5 and SonyLIV were also merging, but that deal has been completely called off.

And now the deal between JioCinema and Hotstar has also been called off, meaning that Disney Plus Hotstar and JioCinema are not going to merge.

For now, this update is completely confirmed and for the time being, the idea of merging has been completely dropped by them.

Disney Plus Hotstar will run separately and JioCinema will also run separately; both will bring their content and publish it on their platforms.

Now guys, from my point of view, this thing is not right for the audience because if both of them were merged, then we would have to take only one subscription and we would get to see a lot of content in that one, but now if you take the subscription of Disney Plus Hotstar separately and JioCinema separately, then we will have to pay extra money, this news is not right for us.

Yes, it is good for the OTT platform that they will get more money but from the audience's point of view, this thing is not going to work completely in our favor.
