Deadpool & Wolverine's 10 Best Cameos, Ranked

From Several Failed Movie Attempts

By WHB KHNPublished about a year ago 7 min read

Although Deadpool & Wolverine had a lot of humor and action, the abundance of cameos from Marvel and other media may have been its most memorable aspect. Many anticipated some big surprises because of Deadpool's fourth-wall-breaking antics and Wolverine's lengthy history in the X-Men universe, and the film delivered on that promise. Easter eggs and allusions abound throughout Deadpool & Wolverine, including many well-known faces. Deadpool and Wolverine treated viewers to a number of unforgettable cameos that honor superhero movies, ranging from references to vintage Marvel characters to cameos by celebrities connected to these two anti-heroes.

With Deadpool & Wolverine, Fox's X-Men story came to a formal end and the heroes' names were transferred to the MCU. The film pays homage to the early days of comic book movies while making several allusions to Fox's Marvel universe. Several well-known superhero movie stars make frequent cameo cameos, which is one of the primary ways this is accomplished.

Ladypool, played by Blake Lively

Blake Lively's appearance as Ladypool in Deadpool & Wolverine was one of the most talked-about and somewhat expected appearances. Despite being more well-known for her roles in Gossip Girl and A Simple Favor, Lively was an obvious choice because she is married to Ryan Reynolds, the real Deadpool. In Deadpool & Wolverine, the action-packed Deadpool army scenario features Ladypool, a female version of the character.

Ladypool made her debut as a member of the multiverse Deadpool team in Deadpool Corps #1 (2010). Her brief appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine conceals her identity behind a mask. Still, her fleeting glimpse in the teaser sparked intense conjecture on the internet. Lively and Reynolds have a pretty lighthearted relationship and often taunt each other on social media, so it was ideal that Lively's involvement was revealed after the film's premiere. Ryan Reynolds brought a lot of his own personality to the role, so Lively was a perfect choice to play his female counterpart.

Happy Hogan, played by Jon Favreau

Happy Hogan makes an unexpected cameo as actor-director Jon Favreau, who launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man (2008). Early in the film, Favreau makes an appearance as Deadpool is submitting an application to become an Avenger. His sardonic delivery and his exchanges with Deadpool's more subdued civilian persona created an amusing dynamic.

Happy Hogan was initially depicted by Jon Favreau in Iron Man. He first featured in comic books as Tony Stark's bodyguard. In addition to the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland, Favreau played Happy in the Iron Man trilogy, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. His cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine connects the X-Men world with one of the pioneers of the MCU. The film's tone was well complemented by Favreau's humorous chemistry with Reynolds, and his return as Happy Hogan was a nice homage to the greater Marvel universe.

Pyro, played by Aaron Stanford

Aaron Stanford returned to the role of the fiery mutant Pyro from the first three X-Men films. Pyro made an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine, where he worked for Cassandra Nova and famously put out Johnny Storm's flames. One of the more fascinating characters from the X-Men films, Pyro began his career as a student at Xavier's school before going rogue and joining Magneto's Brotherhood.

Pyro appears to be a bit of a supporting character in the first three X-Men films, but her storyline is one of the most interesting. Stanford's cameo as Pyro in Deadpool & Wolverine showcases Pyro's aggressive abilities while also serving as a nostalgic nod to the early X-Men movies. His portrayal of his fire skills is amazing, and the sequence is made more complex by his interaction with Wolverine, who has a similar past to Pyro.

Sabretooth, played by Tyler Mane

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Tyler Mane, who played Sabretooth in the 2000 film X-Men, makes an unexpected comeback. In the emptiness, when other mutants confront Deadpool and Wolverine, Sabretooth also makes an appearance. Wolverine and Sabretooth square off in a furious fight scene that is evocative of their early X-Men encounters, bringing their antagonism to the fore.

In comparison to his portrayal in the prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Tyler Mane's portrayal of the character in the first X-Men movie was more iconic and powerful. Mane's return for Deadpool & Wolverine completed the circle in Fox's X-Men universe. Though Mane's cameo was far too brief, it was entertaining since it offered him the opportunity to face Hugh Jackman's Wolverine once more. It's a terrific way to honor Jackman's career because their conflict was essential to the development of Wolverine's persona.

As X-23, Dafne Keen

One of the most anticipated cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine was Dafne Keen's reappearance as X-23, Logan's cloned daughter from Logan (2017). A few sequences feature X-23, but the most memorable comes in the last part of the film when she battles Juggernaut in the Void. In the role that made her *Logan* debut so unforgettable, Keen conveys the same intensity and depth of feeling.

Laura Kinney, also known as X-23, made her comic début in 2004 after making her initial appearance in X-Men: Evolution. Keen has received a lot of praise for her performance as X-23, and her brief reappearance in Deadpool & Wolverine gives the narrative more emotional weight. In their limited moments together, Wolverine and X-23's bond—which is like to that of a father and daughter—is further explored. Along with delivering some of the strongest action scenes in the film, Keen's cameo helps emotionally anchor the picture.

Channing Tatum As Gambit

Channing Tatum finally makes his screen debut as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, following years of speculation and near-misses. Tatum's Gambit makes an appearance in the Void as a hero's resistance, supporting Wolverine and Deadpool in their assault on Cassandra Nova's base. Tatum's long and arduous campaign for a solo Gambit movie, in which he would portray the Ragin' Cajun, made this cameo noteworthy. Sadly, it was never made, unlike Reynolds and Deadpool.

Since his debut in Uncanny X-Men #266 (1990), Gambit has been a beloved character by fans. It seems that his lackluster performance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine dashed aspirations for another film participation. With a dramatic use of his legendary abilities and a Gambit dressed in an incredibly comic-accurate costume, Deadpool & Wolverine delighted both fans and Tatum. Even if it wasn't flawless, Gambit hinted at potential future MCU involvement in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Elektra (Jenifer Garner)

One of the few things that was made clear before the film was Deadpool & Wolverine was Jennifer Garner's return as Elektra. Many speculated that she would play a bigger part in the film as a result, but she only made a few appearances as a member of the resistance in the Void. However, Garner's cameo was exciting because she brought her trademark deadly precision and martial arts talents to the table, holding her own against the two superpowered anti-heroes.

Though she started off in the marginally more popular Daredevil, Garner's Elektra was last seen in the critically panned Elektra (2005). It was heartwarming to witness Garner overcome her difficult past with the persona, one of the most fascinating and recognizable Marvel characters. Though brief, Garner's action-packed cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine shows she can still handle the physically demanding part.

Blade: Wesley Snipes

One of the most unexpected cameos was Wesley Snipes' appearance as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine. There are two reasons for this. First off, when asked if he would make an appearance, Snipes made a very convincing denial. Second, rumors circulated that Reynolds and Snipes got into a fight while filming Blade Trinity. The actors argue that these allegations are overblown and that the reason for this is that they put a lot of personal energy into their roles, which are meant to be antagonistic.

Deadpool's comment that Blade never liked him anyway entreatedly lampooned this blurring of reality in Deadpool & Wolverine. After the MCU released Blade, the renowned Marvel vampire has been a mainstay for decades. Nevertheless, Snipes continues, and his appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine—arguably the greatest performance—only serves to highlight why.

Henry Cavill [Frequently Fan-Casted As Wolverine]

Henry Cavill as Wolverine fulfilled a long-standing fan wish with one of the most rewarding cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine. Wade Wilson is traveling among universes early in Deadpool & Wolverine in an attempt to find a Wolverine version. He enters a garage in one dimension where Henry Cavill's Wolverine is savoring a cigar.

It was a pleasure to see Cavill take up the role at last, following years of fan speculation. Deadpool's humorous jokes about DC during the cameo were especially noteworthy. He even went so far as to say that Cavill ought to join Marvel more permanently as they would treat him better. During the Wolverine variant sequence, Henry Cavill made a cameo that was both lovely and surprising. It also demonstrated why Cavill has been recommended time and time again for the X-Men part in the MCU.

Johnny Storm, played by Chris Evans

Chris Evans's cameo as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch of the Fantastic Four, was the highlight of Deadpool & Wolverine. One of the first people Deadpool and Wolverine meet in the Void is Johnny Storm, who makes an early appearance in the film. Cassandra Nova gives him a particularly memorable death, and he makes an appearance in the highly entertaining post-credits scene. Being a key component of the first Marvel films, Chris Evans' Human Torch was an ideal choice to honor the period.

The reason Chris Evans' cameo as Deadpool and Wolverine worked so well was that it hinted at Evans' potential role as Captain America before making a shocking revelation. Witnessing Johnny's profanity-filled tirade following years of watching Evans portray honorable and devout superheroes was another unforgettable moment. Evans' cameo, on the other hand, was ideal for the Deadpool & Wolverine audience who grew up watching Fantastic Four because it was both sophisticated and hilarious.
