John Black's death will finally be acknowledged

Days of Our Lives is preparing for John Black's (Drake Hogestyn) final sendoff. Some fans say this has gone on for so long that they have gotten over the initial shock and grief of Hogestyn's death. These feelings may change once the heartbreaking episodes begin to air and former Salemites return home.

The week of May 12 will bring some startling revelations, letting viewers know this is the beginning of the end. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) will receive a phone call indicating that her missing husband has been located. She will be in Salem Square with Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduck) and happily exclaim, "They found him".

Marlena may be celebrating in vain and perhaps needs to listen to the rest of the conversation. Whoever is on the other end could be telling her that John was found but is deceased. There is also the chance that he will be found alive and die offscreen, before or while making his way home to his loved ones.

Susan's spidy senses kick in

Days of Our Lives viewers realize that John will not return to Salem alive and well because Hogysten died last year. His friends and family will never see him again. As Marlena joyfully proclaims her husband is coming home, Susan's spidey senses alert her that something is amiss. She launches into one of her psychic tirades and says it feels as if someone just walked over her grave.

Susan has been humoring Salemites since 1996 when she was hired as a lookalike for Kristen DiMera, whom Eileen Davidson then portrayed. Both Davidson and Haiduk have done an excellent job as Susan and retained her unique quirkiness.

Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascola) learned that Ms. Banks was an Elvis fan, so he dressed like the king of Rock & Roll and seduced her. She later gave birth to her son Elvis Jr. and was horrified to learn that she had spent a night with Stefano and not the king.

Susan has been pretty accurate on this latest visit to Salem. She said Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) was hiding a dark secret and that Belle Black (Martha Madison) was in love with EJ DiMera (Dan Furriegel). She was right on both counts. Johnny pointed a gun at his father the night he was shot, but there is no proof he pulled the trigger, and Belle confessed her love for EJ.

The countdown begins

Spoilers don't reveal if Susan shares specific details with Dr. Evans, but the psychic's predictions about John will startle her good friend. Marlena has been without her husband by her side for a long time and desperately wants him to return home.

She knows Susan's psychic ability can be misguided, but is usually spot on. She may brush off the warnings despite feeling something may be wrong because she wants her spouse back in Salem so badly.

Days of Our Lives viewers wonder how John died and if it was an accident. If not, was Orpheus (George DelHoya) or some other enemy behind it? Will there be a long-drawn-out mission to discover the truth, or will the memorial service be the end?

Fans say that because this has gone on for so long, they hope the end is near and John can rest in peace as his loved ones grieve and heal. As for Ms. Banks, no one knows if or when she will turn up in Salem again. Many fans say they can only tolerate her in small doses, which may be why her returns are spread out and so brief.
