Cruel Intentions

Episode 5

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a year ago 3 min read

We are now into the second half of the season for Cruel Intentions. Now originally it was a single season order for this show but I think it has a lot of potential and we all know that if a studio feels like they can make money off of it they will continue to produce it until everyone is tired and broke. So perhaps there will be a second season in our future. Though I suppose I should hold my horses and see how this season ends first.

Scott is adorable but so so stupid. This man is DUMB. I think Annie was just trying really hard to go for the opposite of Lucien and so she went for sweet but stupid. Which is fine, but she is just so much smarter then this dude, I do not foresee this working out.

There is really no sign of how much time has passed. I mean rush week happens during the first couple weeks of school. Parents weekend tends to happen right around the end of the first month. But Lucien says he hasn’t seen Annie around in a whole, how long is “a while”?

God I hate Caroline’s mom. She didn’t come to parents ' weekend to see her daughter, she came to get some political foothold through Annie. Poor Caroline. Another reason I will let her get away with anything and everything. She also has yet to do anything that is unforgivable. She has only been hot and powerful thus far and therefore I really don't care what she does.

Cece thinks that she is pregnant, she most definitely has not been sleeping. She does however give us some sense of time. It's been over a month since these rush events. I’d say we are in the 2nd or 3rd month of school.

They are STILL rushing, that’s crazy. Caroline uses some real hard guilt to get Annie and her mom to have some facetime Caroline’s mom. Annie’s mom is not having it with Caroline’s. And this is going to end up being Caroline’s fault somehow. So she retreats to the bathroom for some self medication. Caroline does end up spinning it so that Annie feels bad for her which is some impressive levels of manipulation. It comes off as a real vulnerability even though I clearly know that it isn’t. Annie falls for it though, getting Caroline’s mom exactly what she wants.

Is this congressman really playing beer pong with these frat boys? Lucien is really going toe to toe with Blaise. Blaise is not having it, he has positioned himself to have a job with the congressmen right after graduation but Lucien is threatening that. Lucien realizes that Blaise is poor and confronts him with the fact that he now gets to hold this over his head.

Cece is losing her mind over whatever this mystery sickness is and she ends up passing out when she is with her professor. The professor ends up taking Cece to the hospital.

Stepmom seems overly infatuated with her step son. It's very creepy. She is really over here giving Lucien credit for securing Annie’s parents as if Caroline hasn’t been working her ass off trying to get that done for her mom. He is leaning into it, which finally breaks Caroline. This poor girl is being so crushed under the weight of her mothers expectations. She dumps her moms necklace on the table and when mom wants to say something negative about Caroline, Lucien actually sticks up for his step sister.

Annie and Scott are in bed together and when he can’t get it up she thinks that it's her fault, but we all know that he is gay.

Poor Caroline can’t let her guard down for 2 seconds. She is hurting so deeply. God this show did such a good job of giving more depth to these characters.

I seriously can’t get over how good this casting is. Sara Silva who plays Cece actually looks a lot like Selma Blair. From looks to ability this is the best cast adaptation that I have ever seen. The characters have gotten so much more room to breathe in this show then they ever got in the movie and I genuinely think that this show might be better than the movie. I know that is a bold statement but let's think. The plot is extremely similar. Like the movie the show cast young and up and coming actors who perfectly fit their roles. And this format simply lends itself to this story more than a feature does.

This sounds good. You know this was not just a re-imagining of the Movie Cruel Intentions but also of a book from the 1700s that the movie Dangerous Liaisons was based on. Dangerous Liaisons was a great movie, imo. So was Cruel Intentions. Thanks for writing this, I had no idea about this new series. :)
