Cruel Intentions

Episode 4

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Cruel Intentions has actually proved that this story was always meant to be a tv show. This show was not the first attempt at expanding on this story. There was a very failed Cruel Intentions 2, and there were several tries at a tv show but perhaps it has been just long enough for this to actually work. The cast and writers also seem to have a great understanding of what the movie actually was and therefore have been able to capture its tone and purpose really well in the show.

Lucien leaves Annie early in the morning, clearly avoiding whatever feelings he is starting to have. Annie then turns to Beatrice to help deal with her issues.

Brian went ahead and spread it around that Scott is gay. He is a little too clueless to realize why that might hurt him as the new frat president. And Blaise seems a little more concerned then Scott is. That said both of them are gay, or at least bisexual so I am not really sure what the problem in owning that is.

Caroline actually goes and does her own dirty work by going to see Annie. She gets Annie to agree to come to her sorority event. They seem like they are going to get a lot closer. Or at the very least, Caroline is going to manipulate the relationship so that it appears that way.

Cece finds out that her professor used to be married and she gets a little defensive over him. She then finds him at her reading. Cece is keeping a very close eye on her professor. I think that it's pretty clear that she is getting a thing for him. I mean she was late to a rush event because she was stalking him. She got herself kicked out of the rush party because she couldn’t control herself.

The ex wife is a very sexual person so of course Lucien is there. Yet another challenge for him.

Sororities really are cults. Literally all of these little parties and rituals are so weird. They seem very cult-like. They have confessionals, which just sounds like a really good way to gather up dirt on some of the new pledges.

They really nailed these frat guys though. They are really pressing this gay thing and then having Scott “I’m not giving up protein dude” because he can’t eat a hotdog without being laughed at. This is total frat boy bs.

Wow Caroline is a total psychopath. A hot psychopath but she is definitely crazy. She really stole Cece’s story in an attempt to manipulate these freshmen. CRAZY.

Oh my god we are even gonna get a kissing scene between the girls. God I love that this show has captured every single thing that made the movie incredible. And then improved upon it.

Cece is really drinking and playing darts with her professor. This is really inappropriate. They are in public. We aren’t even acting like this is taboo or frowned upon, everyone is just okay with this?

And now Annie is gonna get caught in the middle of Scott trying to get rid of these gay rumors. Lucien gets rejected as Annie and Scott bond.

Blaise is really good at puppet mastering. He is great and pulling the strings behind the scenes. He actually seems to be a huge driver of this story.

This show has got me in a chokehold. This is a very bingeable show. At only 8 episodes you could really blast through it in a day and it would be totally worth it. I also think that unlike a lot of streaming shows now Cruel Intentions has a really great rewatch quality to it, the same way the movie does. All of the charm and endurance the movie has is also in the show.
