Cruel Intentions

Episode 7

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a year ago 3 min read

We are now in the last two episodes of Cruel Intentions, we have hit upon nearly every plot point from the movie. There are only a few things left to go. I am not sure if they are going to follow the movie ending through but I really love the way that the show is going so far. I really really hate adaptations. I've made that pretty clear. But this is possibly the best movie to tv adaptation that exists.

Both our main frat and sorority get investigated by alumni, the boys are totally unprepared but of course Caroline is ready with all their records and future plans. I love that these scenes are intercut with Cece and her professor talking about facism. It was just a brilliant writing decision.

Lucien lays next to Annie with his poor face all beat up. They are kind of adorable.

Cece is finally pushing back against Caroline who treats her like shit. Caroline is obviously not having it. Now strength that comes from a relationship isn’t real strength so we will see how long she can actually keep standing up for herself before Caroline decides to throw this professor under the bus.

Scott and Blaise seem to make up. Blaise still seems really hurt by Scott distancing himself but Scott does finally admit his feelings for Blaise.

The potential sorority members are about to embark on their final rush event. They are competing for their spots in the house. While this chaos is going on Caroline derails Cece’s professor. She pretends to be an alumni for her own sorority. She is planting seeds of doubt in this professor's head to get Cece back in the game. Damn she’s evil but she’s so good.

Annie is about to find out that Caroline has been lying to her, this is gonna be so bad. Also Cece and Annie are gonna turn against Caroline by simply doing what they want to do without her influence. I really thought the secret was gonna come out right there but apparently not. They are really waiting for the perfect time to blow that one up.

Blaise then tries to lie his way out of the stealing. He continues to try and manipulate Scott and blame Lucien. And yet Blaise still seems calm and collected.

Lucien decorates Annie’s room super gorgeous. Annie decides that she wants to sleep with Lucien. But apparently he can’t do it unless he films himself. Or he’s using it as a manipulation tactic to get her to do what he wants. And because this stupid stupid girl is inexperienced and insecure she agrees to let him film. This is so dumb. I am curled up into a ball of cringe right now. This is so terrible. Oh no, make it stop.

Cece goes to this department meeting and she is sparkly…that's a choice.

Lucien looks very triumphant as he goes to find Caroline. So it seems it was a manipulation tactic though he didn’t share the file with Caroline so perhaps it was just for himself. And she is doing the professor when Lucien gets there.

I love that this was more of a slow burn. So many things in the movie are rushed and they seem to come out of nowhere, adapting this to a tv show really fixes those issues. I love the added characters and storylines and they really give a better picture of the world that these characters reside in.

Caroline releases Lucien’s sex tapes? Lucien releases Lucien’s sex tapes?

Okay so the show is doing a great job of fixing a lot of problems that I have with the movie. I really hope that they continue on this trend because one thing in the movie that always bothered me is that Sebastian kind of died a martyr. He dies protecting Annette and that somehow magically makes all the horrible things he did disappear. I really don’t want them to do that to Lucien. These are bad dudes and it genuinely doesn’t matter what their little insecurities are, or how much they think they’ve grown. They have still never faced consequences for the shitty things they’ve done. So we will see how they decide to end his story.
