Conner Floyd has left The Young and the Restless to portray Chad Dimera on Days of Our Lives

This comes after Billy Flynn left DOOL to play Cane Ashby on Y&R.

Another daytime actor has switched soaps

Conner Floyd has left his role as Chance Chancellor on The Young and the Restless and will portray the new Chad Dimera on Days of Our Lives. Soap fans might need a scorecard to keep up with all the recent changes on daytime television. Let's look at what has transpired thus far.

Y&R viewers who suspected that Aristotle Dumas (Billy Flynn) was Cane Ashby were correct. Days of Our Lives viewers wondered what would happen with Flynn's character Chad, and now we know. Daniel Goddard, who initially portrayed Cane Ashby and who some fans believed was headed back to Genoa City, now has the role of Professor Henry Dalton on General Hospital. "Whew"!!!

Y&R victimizes some characters

Chance has not had any significant storylines since Floyd took over the role. His reunion with Abby Hamilton (Melissa Ordway) did not work out, and neither did his relationships with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Summer Newman (Allison Lanier). Chance has been sitting by watching the rest of Genoa City move along without him. Even as a member of the GCPD he was not very good at solving crimes.

As Chad Dimera, he will be front and center and involved in several current storylines. Goddard was a fan favorite, but when he portrayed Cane, the character cheated on Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and had a bay son Sam, from his one-night stand with Juliet Helton (Lar Allen).

Cane and Lily eventually broke up and divorced. A relationship was teased with Cane and Tracy Abbott (Beth Maitland) went nowhere. He left town a single father without a job to look for his father, Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers), and was not seen again.

Flynn's character is being rebranded

Flynn says he jumped at the chance to appear on the CBS soap and said his character will be rebranded. Cane has returned to Genoa City as a billionaire and announced that Colin assisted him in gaining his fortune before passing away.

This means Rogers will not be returning to the soap. He also left his role as Robert Scorpio on GH at the beginning of the year, and there is no word if he will return.

Flynn revealed in an interview that his character still loves Lily, so fans will see thsi play out over time. Sam has not yet been mentioned, so it's unclear if the child will be in Genoa City or if he will never be mentioned as part of the rebranding.

Chad is front and center

Days of Our Lives has Chad involved in several front-burner storylines. He is attempting a relationship with Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord), who has just been revealed as an ISA agent working with Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy).

Chad and his brothers, EJ Dimera (Dan Feuerriegel ) and Tony Dimera (Thao Penghalis), recently discussed their sibling Stefan Dimera ( Brandon Barash who has not been in contact with anyone since leaving Salem.

DOOL viewers know that Vivian Alamain (Louis Sorel) kidnapped her son, so maybe his being mentioned indicates he may soon be released or escape. Barash had said that he was tired of his character being written in and out of the soap and if called back he might not return. This could indicate another recast if Stefan returns.

Billy Flynn can be seen on both The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives for a while because Days tapes eight months in advance. Conner Floyd begins taping for DOOL later this summer, so he will not be seen on screen until possibly next year. Keep watching both daytime dramas to find out what happens next.
