Long-Lost Heroes and Titles Return in Marvel's December 2017 Solicitations
December is usually a time for friends and family to come together drink hot chocolate and celebrate the holiday season. However, the House of Ideas’ greatest characters will be celebrating the holidays by welcoming back long-lost heroes and titles as 2017 comes to a close. GEEKS has the inside scope on the storylines that True Believers should keep an eye and perhaps request these stories for their stocking stuffers.

Is Diversity Killing Comics?
Pay enough attention to the comic book forums and you will notice one excuse for poor sales cropping up again and again…diversity. Unbelievable as it may sound, people are actually convinced that this is the leading cause of people turning their backs on the industry. Could there be any truth to these claims?

Women in Comics
“[In comics] representation is absolutely vital.” – Kelly Sue DeConnick In 2014, the comics art organization Sequart produced the documentary She Makes Comics directed by Marisa Stotter in an attempt to trace the history of women in the comics industry since the early 1900s. Throughout the hour and ten minute documentary one thing is made perfectly clear, as comics writer and editor Kelly Sue DeConnick states, “representation is absolutely vital” (Stotter 0:0:57). For some time now, the comics industry has taken flack for its lack of diverse representation within its creative teams as well as the comics that they produce. While representations of race and queer bodies have made some impact on the industry, the lack of women both within the comics as well as working in the industry has taken a front seat in the drive forward for better representation in comics.

Where Are All the Infinity Stones?
The MCU has been building up to this moment over 10 years ago. With the first ever glimpse into Thanos, we knew that the Infinity Wars weren't far behind. But 10 years is a long time and in that, we might have forgotten where these stones ended up. We have been teased with the threat of Thanos as the puppet master of all things that go bump in the MCU. Recently we have seen five out of the six stones. They have been introduced in Avengers, Thor 1 and 2,Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Dr. Strange. But how much do we know about these stones? What power do they all possess? Who is guarding the stones? Infinity Wars was released in July 1991 and was written by Jim Starlin with George Perez and Ron Lim providing the artwork. George Perez was commissioned to pencil six issues in this new series. At the time, Perez was dealing with a large amount of stress steaming from a previous project working on DC's Wonder Woman series entitled War of the Gods. The large amounts of work, out a great deal of stress on the shoulders of Perez and was unable to finish Infinity Wars. Ron Lim was then assigned to finish the pencil work for the issues and there he remained the artist for the entire run of the series. The six issue story was broken into two miniseries, Infinity War and Infinity Crusade. This miniseries features many characters that make up the Marvel Universe. List of characters include:

Most Underrated Marvel Superpowers
Throughout the history of mankind, there has been one question that has either divided or united those that give an answer. It is a question asked by children and adults like. What superpower is the best? Many respond with the obvious choices, the comic greats that have permeated pop culture since the golden age. Flight, strength, mind-reading, laser beams for eyes, x-ray vision, time manipulation. Undoubtedly there is a good reason for these to hold their place as the most sought after of abilities. They are possessed by the most famous of superheroes. But what of the unsung heroes? Do they not possess great power as well? I'm not talking about those weird forgotten superheroes. I'm talking about the guys that just need more time to shine. The most underrated Marvel superpowers are nothing to ignore, as you will see.

Silver & Black Release Date Announced
Every time Sony makes an announcement regarding anything to do with Spider-Man or the associated characters, I find myself pondering this question. To be perfectly honest, it’s more like a ponderous drum beat thumping in the back of my head. It all began with the announcement of a Sinister Six movie way back in 2014 following the release of TheAmazing Spider-Man 2. It wasn’t so much the idea of a Sinister Six movie that rubbed me the wrong way, it was the idea of having a movie devoted to Spider-Man's rogues' gallery without the inclusion of the wall crawler himself. It just didn’t make any sense. Then there was the announcement of an Aunt May solo film, and the jaws of Spider-Man fans the world over collectively dropped. I had to lie down for several minutes my head was thumping so hard that day. Then Sony was hacked and the world got to see for themselves the circus that went on behind the scenes. This left Sony and in particular Amy Pascal, I still don’t understand how this woman managed to avoid the firing squad, in a deeply embarrassing and precarious situation. From the ashes of catastrophe came a single spark of hope in the form of a deal with Marvel, which led to Spidey’s inclusion in Civil War. From the moment he arrived on the screen in that trailer, the fans knew that finally, we had the Spider-Man we had been praying for and we rejoiced.
