CO-VID Creativity: My New YouTube Segment
A way to virtually collaborate with my friends to produce creative content

If you've read any of my previous posts (or know me personally), then you know that I'm very a creative person who works in Brisbane's arts sector as a theatre-maker, director, playwright, actor, theatre critic and teaching artist. Unfortunately, due to self-isolating , I no longer have the luxury of organising a rehearsal or meeting up with friends in the flesh to create stories together, rehearse shows or, to put simply, just be creative.
Consequently, a month ago I created a weekly youtube segment called CO-VID Creativity in which I collaborate virtually with a different friend/bunch of friends to do something creative. This includes, but is not restricted to, reading some stories together, painting, creating a short film, doing a monologue or talking about our creative journeys. It also selfishly works in my favour and ensures that I'm doing something creative each week so that I can work on my 'creative tool-belt'. If for some reason I don't have time time to collaborate with someone throughout the week (which was the case in episode two), then I have to upload something solo, which is quite daunting for me, not gonna lie.
Alas, here are the videos I've made so far, as well as a little blurb in regards to what they're about. Would love for you to check them out :)
EPISODE ONE: STORYTELLING with Raphael Tefera.

In this episode, my best friend Raphael Tefera and I read our favourite stories from the following three books: A. A Milne's 'When We Were Young', Angela Carter's 'Book of Fairytales' and The Brother's Grimms' '101 Fairytales'. All of these books are copyrighted and can be purchased at your local bookstore or online via Book Depository.
EPISODE TWO: HARPER'S MONOLOGUE (ANGELS IN AMERICA).

Unfortunately during that week, I didn't have the chance to collaborate virtually with anything as I was transitioning into online learning and teaching online, which was quite a stressful time. Instead, I recorded one of my favourite monologues of all time from the play Angels in America.
EPISODE THREE: LEARNING CURVES AND CREATIVE JOURNEYS with Ingrid Bartkowiak.

In episode three of CO-VID Creativity, my wonderful friend, artist and illustrator Ingrid Bartkowiak and I gave a lovely chat about learning curves and creative journeys, as well as how we've adapted our own practices to cater for the corona-virus restrictions. We discuss everything from our significant works to James Corden, with a touch of Alice in Wonderland. Ingrid designed the thumbnail art and her socials are as follows:

EPISODE FOUR: WAITING (A SHORT FILM) with Gabby Fitzgerald.

Episode four of CO-VID Creativity is a short film that my incredible friend Gabby Fitzgerald and I created together virtually in the span of a few days. It's about grief and how we deal with grief after a heartbreak in which someone is always left waiting...

And that's all of the episodes so far :) Hopefully one of them tickles your fancy, but if not, then that's okay as well. I tend to upload videos midway through the week around Wednesday or Thursday, depending on what my workload is during the day and how much editing needs to get done. The one we are in the process of creating for next week has about twelve of my friends collaborating together from all across the world and is turning to be one of the funnest things I've done creatively, so stay tuned for that :)
