CBS Soaps are boring viewers
Fans of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful are speaking out on the lackadaisical storylines.

CBS soap fans are disappointed
Fans of both The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful are in agreement that both CBS soaps have become boring. Perhaps it has something to do with COVID and maybe the writers can no longer come up with any creative ideas. Whatever is going on the sentiment of the viewers is that something needs fixing. Consider these comments that were left on a soap spoiler page.
Regarding both CBS soaps
"I am laying here and I never thought that I would ever say this, but I am bored with my stories. I’m very disappointed in the writing and have been for a while. I have been watching Y&R and B&B since I was a child and would go out of my way to keep up with them. It saddens me to say that I don’t feel that way anymore".
"Yawn. Sad faces, spoiled brats, and free therapy sessions with your coffee do not make a plot! We deserve better writing, and so do the poor actors who try their best to make this dull writing palatable."
Stopped watching. Too boring
The Young and the Restless
"I keep saying these stories need to move quicker. The good ones should leave us wanting more, not dragged out to us begging for them to end. And the bad stories (like Abbys baby story) wouldn't get people so angry because they would be done before it gets to fans frustration".
"The writing is poor, character backgrounds are being forgotten and when did Chelsea become such a whiner?!!! She has a history of being so bold and she came back from maternity leave (in real life) and wants Adam back after he ruined her life for the umpteenth time? Also since when did Sally Spectra become such a horrible person in soap opera history?!! With the collection of crimes that have been committed throughout the years by many veteran soap characters, she should be considered a saint shouldn’t she"?!!
There was a time when soap fans could not wait for the next episode of their favorite daytime drama series. Viewers would go to their break rooms during their lunch hour or if they lived close enough and had an hour lunch would go home to watch. There used to be cliff-hangers, defined villains, and couples worth rooting for. Now everything seems humdrum and not very interesting.
On The Young and the Restless fans have been disappointed with the storyline regarding Abby Chancellor's (Melissa Ordway) baby from day one. No one thought it was a good idea for Mariah Copeland (Cameron Grimes) to be a surrogate and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) to donate his sperm. Fans are also saying they do not like the way Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) is now being portrayed and how Devon is trying to take over Dominic Chancellor (River and Rainn Ware).
Rory Gibson took over the role of Noah Newman but does nothing except look unhappy when he sees his ex Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) with his sister Mariah. Fans say Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is too bossy and that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) need more to do. These are but a few of the complaints which are aimed at the writers and not the actors.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful say they are tired of Paris Buckingham (Diamond White) going from man to man and they want the trainwreck of Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang), Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), and Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown to be over and done. There is also concern with the lack of airtime for DOn Diamont who portrays Bill Spencer and several other characters.
The bottom line is that there is no excitement on either CBS soap and viewers do not have anything to look forward to anymore. The fact that several hundred are complaining on social media and saying the same thing should cause the writers of both soaps to pay attention and make some adjustments.
