Beyond the Gates Update: Is Chelsea referring to an actual "threesome" or using a metaphor for something different

BTG fans are wondering if the show is going into taboo territory or if Ms. Hamilton's words are in jest.

Is Chelsea serious or joking?

Chelsea Hamilton (Rhonnie Rose Mantilla) will approach Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) on Beyond the Gates this week for advice. A preview shows him saying he is always willing to lend his expertise, to which she replies, "Great, I want to talk about threesomes," before walking away. Spoilers say she is probably going somewhere private so they can talk.

Is Chelsea saying what everyone thinks she is, or could another meaning be behind her words? If this is a se&ual reference, this would not be the first time the subject has been discussed on daytime television. A few years ago, Days of Our Lives, under Executive Producer Albert Alarrs, went down that rabbit hole.

DOOL fans did not agree with the storyline

Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold), who were dating, decided to spice up their relationship and had a consensual threesome with Alex Kiriakis ( Robert Scott Wilson).

Some fans applauded the scene, but most expressed disgust at how the show changed on Peacock. During Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso said sh*t. This was the only time the soap has had a character use profanity other than saying hell or damn. If DOOL was going to take some liberties without the restraints of network television, they listened to teh majority and walked it back.

After Alarr was fired, Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) said he hoped DOOL would return to the family values fans once enjoyed. Since Janet Spellman Drucker took over, there have not been any risky love scenes. Beyond the Gates is new and does not have a fan base of 50 or 60 years. The viewers they have now will have to make sure their voices are heard on this subject.

Is Chelsea serious or joking?

How will Beyond the Gate viewers react if Chelsea is seeking Martin's assistance with an encounter involving three people? Younger actors are more open to scenes that would once never have been on a soap, and younger viewers may also be open to what might seem appalling to older soap fans.

Many long-time viewers grew up in a world where monogamy between married couples was respected and considered the norm, but the world is changing. There was a time when there were no same-sex or interracial couples in the daytime. Still, based on comments, there are more soap fans against than for seeing threesomes play out on their "stories."

Beyond the Gates airs on CBS, where there are limitations on what can take place on broadcast television. However, if viewers don't complain, how far will this new soap push limits? Is this just a tease to engage fans, and has CBS already set boundaries? Or is network television going to uncharted territory?

Love in the afternoon is changing

Love in the afternoon used to be associated with married people cheating. On the NBC soap Another World, Robin Strasser had people trying to attack her in public because her character, Rachel Davis, was pregnant by Steve Frame (Gerald Reinholt), who was engaged to Alice Matthews. (Jacqueline Courtney).

If Beyond the Gates takes the plunge, will they gain or lose viewers? How would this affect what fans of General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful see on screen? Days of Our Lives listened to the fans and did not repeat the storyline. Tune in on Monday to Beyond the Gates to discover what Chelsea means and how it will ultimately unfold in front of the cameras.
