Anime Ribbon Fairy: TikTok's #1 Cosplay Problem

Yes, somehow in the year of our lord 2025 it seems impossible to navigate social media without an influencer trying to sell you courses or even the ever so popular apology video for allegations of some generally morally depraved behaviors. But what you’ll find buried in the rubble of such events is the occasional odd duck that doesn’t apologize. One that keeps doubling down, in excess, and even goes so far as to fabricate evidence for their ever growing need for attention. While some of us pray that one day we'll get a cosplay community version of a Ukulele apology from the creator in today's article, it's safe to say we'll likely never get one and he'll just keep trying to grift.

Today we’ll be discussing TikTok User Anime Ribbon (Legally known as Steffanie Boyd), yes his actions are deplorable and questionable enough to pull me out of retirement as some find information easier to digest in written form.

Boyd’s Assorted Controversies:

Boyd seemingly began cosplaying some time around 2019, emerging on to the scene on Instagram from a since deleted profile, no one could track him further back than that at the time online leaving his history as a cosplayer rather barebones. But that didn’t stop him from making claims that he worked various other conventions at any point whatsoever. Such conventions he claims to have worked in the past or signed contracts with is MomoCon in Atlanta Georgia and Katsucon National Harbor, Maryland.

I have reached out to a handful of the conventions Boyd has claimed to have signed a contract with and both Katsucon and Momo con have responded that they have no record of such a person working for them or with them at any point in time. Other conventions such as San-Japan, Anime Expo, Anime Austin (defunct) and Neko have not responded at the time of writing this article.

I would like to also point out that as a result of these alleged contracts Boyd offered his services as a cosplay mentor claiming that he would look over hopeful's cosplay portfolio's and help them tweak them for when submitting to agencies. Based on Boyd's Venmo history he appears to have charged for these services despite having no real credentials.

I want to note that most conventions have policies against hiring booth babes, such as Pax East, and will expel booth babes from the convention and not allow them to re-enter unless they have changed into clothing that is not enticing to the buyer, cosplaying characters sometimes is considered being a booth babe if working for a booth and dressed scantily. A similar incident happened at Pax East in 2012 when Jessica Nigiri was asked to change out of her Lolipop Chainsaw cosplay multiple times by convention staff. This went against the mainly family friendly con's cosplay and booth policies at the time. No company or convention has ever hired a "cosplay walker" and no such position exists, I am stating this from my experience as Con Staff, Vendor Hired Help, Emcee / Cosplay Games Host, and featured panelist/local legend guest previously.

The reason Boyd was looked into at all was because his lies got away from him when claiming a cosplayer he mentored was removed from KatsunCon and Black balled from upwards of 30 talent agencies for cosplayers. This not only seemed to materialize out of thin air as no one at the convention was witness to the following Boyd claimed happened.

-Three separate sexual assaults

-heavy drug use

-streaking, nude, through photoshoots

There was no evidence to back up these claims.

When people reached out to KatsuCon they were met with an email stating that the only Cosplay guest that weekend was Vampy Bit Me and no one else. Aside from this there are not over 30 or anywhere near 30 talent agencies for cosplayers, this is not a thing that exists. Most companies hire models and have cosplay studios create costumes for those models. An example of this is previous work with Henchman Studios with larger cosplayers and brands named, like Kotaku for BlizzCon.

It should be noted that the Cosplay Studio named “Henchman Studios” is no longer on Youtube and the moniker is now used by another group.

Blizzard and other companies such as Capcom are incredibly selective with who they allow to be the faces of their product. From sharing social media posts cosplayers make to asking for promotional content and the like. If you don’t check off the VERY specific boxes for these companies the likelihood is that you will not be selected. I want to be VERY clear when I say this the title of “Professional Cosplayer” is not synonymous with the now bygone days of booth babes or gig work. Professional Cosplayers are often seen as people who are known by their cosplay handle and have moved their way up the cosplay ladder in a way where their own name is the reason for their income, they are their own brand and as such appear at conventions as guests running panels, offering commissions, doing build books and etc..

Professional cosplayers typically make their own cosplays and are occasionally at times hired to create costumes and showcase them online as part of a brand deal. Laura and Ralf of Lightning Cosplay are a great example of this as last year they made Emmrich Volkarin for the Release of Dragon Age The Veilgaurd sponsored by EA.

The KatsuCon incident is where things begin to spiral in the beginning of 2024 where a number of very popular cosplayers discussed Boyd’s lies, this is how it came to light that the previously mentioned guest, was the only guest. The individuals that Boyd claimed were victims suddenly started vanishing. From one manic post to where he claimed to have been driving to this person’s house, to another post featuring a police report claiming the assaults happened.

Firstly, the death mentioned was allegedly of an African American male, given that he would have been at Katsucon and the video and screen shots we have of this alleged person we can assume he was likely mid to late twenties. Now when taking that into account, the date of his alleged passing was February 26th, we referenced the 25th, 26th and 27th with national death records, which are available to the public, and found that no one by the name “James” matching the description of the gentleman in question had passed away. Ergo we have to assume this person did not exist, especially considering Boyd then followed this up with a go-fund me link that magically kept disappearing while his account was locked to followers only.

Now for the matter of the police report. Upon closer inspection you’ll note that the police report is labeled “Internal Claims” meaning that it is not a civilian report form but one that the police department uses for internal claims. User @BekiBi on tiktok called to confirm the type of report this was with the responding police department.

The police department did confirm that the form was used for internal affairs within the department, this of course would not be the last time where Boyd would fabricate evidence to aid his claims, but more on that later.

During this period of investigation myself and several others started talking and chose to open up a tip line to compile statements and evidence from others who had suffered at the hands of Boyd. The results were astounding, there are statements that were not made public knowledge due to the nature of the contents and were put into a different document that is only accessible to convention staffers so they are aware of Boyd’s actions. Anything that was publicly covered can easily be found including a video by Youtuber and Tiktoker Addy Harajuku, both videos can be found in the citations link at the bottom of this article.

There was one submission however that would make myself and Jak feel sick. An anonymous submitter had sent a screen recording from Boyd’s “cosplayfairy” OnlyFans account that he had been using to put up free previews of his content to promote his paid “Mistress Ribbon” account.

Now Boyd will try to argue on of several lies from “It’s a male sub”, “It’s generative AI”, “it’s edited” and he’s recently fallen back on the claims of an edit by claiming it was filmed before his children was born which, as we all know, is not physically possible due to the current known ages of his children he has doxed himself.

As for claims that I allegedly edited the video, I hate to inform everyone that my computer and editing software was on the other side of the country at the time of the report. I also, as a survivor of Rape and CSA, find the existence of the video absolutely abhorrent. It should also be noted that the children do not appear in said video, both children can be heard in the background while one is clearly holding the camera. Where he seems to claim he’s been accused of distributing CP I’m not sure but another user who found the video before he deleted the whole account it was on posted a spectrogram.

The person who submitted the screen recording us stated the following.

“I had a bad feeling about ribbons onlyfans, the free one. I went to go check and I found that his child, was filming a sexual video of his. You can hear him in the back of this recording saying "I can't hold it still." This was his five year old kid. I would really like for this to be talked about, because this is disgusting. I don't have a good feeling moving forward if he has already presented behaviors like this with his son.”

This would not be the end of the submissions of course, many making several claims that were more than concerning, some ranging from child endangerment concerns to grooming allegations.

One person who came forward wrote :

“At MomoCon 2023, I was attending the con as a panelist with a few old members of my group that was very close friends with Ribbon. It was my first and last time in that group. I was approached by Ribbon as I sat waiting for when I was supposed to meet up with my group to head to the panel room to set up for said panel. I had never met Ribbon before that and knew nothing about him. When approached I wasn't too well off and was under stress. So, I know I didn't look happy and looked upset. Assuming he was approaching me to ask how I was and if I was okay, I was polite and greeted him.

We talked for a bit about cosplay and how he was this very big, very popular cosplayer hired by MomoCon to draw in more attendees. I didn't ask for further elaboration and just listened to him talk. After a few minutes I got uncomfortable when he gently placed his hand onto my right hip, rubbing his thumb there. He told me he was a child therapist and he could talk with me to help me. He said we would have to go to his hotel room, provided by the Convention, to speak more freely and 'for your own privacy' he said.

I looked at him confused because why would I need a child therapist when I was at the time a 23 year old adult. I asked why I would need specifically a child therapist and he looked confused. He asked how old I was, I answered truthfully. He leaned in close to my face and very abruptly leaned back and yanked his hand away from my hip. He then said he liked talking to me but had to get back to his booth for signings and shit. He quickly left me and that was the last time I personally saw him.”

This wasn’t the only time alleged concerning behaviors from Boyd would be reported another such statement. Alleges Grooming and solicitation of an alleged minor,

“He said I should lie about my age to go into that server. And I was what. Like 13 at the time? This was quite awhile ago so I don't have screenshots to submit as if right now. He did in fact groom me for a little bit and had received nude photos of me at one point. (This wasn't consensual. They had said they were going to hurt themselves if I hadn't) Again I'd like to state I AM still a minor. And if I'm correct they still have those pictures of me. Unless they deleted them so no evidence could be found of our interaction. This experience occured my old discord which was named " REDACTED" it got banned cause they reported the pictures I had sent of myself I am assuming cause I got banned for CP. I don't use the email that was associated with that account and I don't wish to check it. Afterall I logged out of it awhile and it will take me forever to figure out the password. They do in fact and have in fact preyed on other minors. Cause they had told me " you aren't like the last one's you listen so well ".”

Needless to say those of us who saw this statement when it first was submitted were horrified. I frankly still am Horrified and would like to take a moment to state that we who have worked on the google document believe you and urge you to reach out to local authorities or a trusted adult for help. A child should never have to live through this or be taken advantage of in such a disgusting way.

Boyd always tries to re-direct people to a google drive on his account, claiming its proof the allegations are false however this is what the google drive contains as of writing this 8/16/2025

As you can see the lack of actual evidence as seen in the google document he provides isn’t at all relevant to the claims and accusations against him. This is par for the course for Boyd.

Of course with Boyd’s desire to lie at this point I decided to move in and post a video myself about the situation that was formatted to drag in attention, it should be noted this is not something I normally do.

This video quickly covers bullet points and showcases Boyd’s own words and his ever prominent need to involve himself in sexual topics around children, even interacting with children in regards to their sexual inclinations not only spreading misinformation but also fear mongering directed at a literal child, trying to use flashing a group of children to sell a product, referring to his child being dressed up as a Yaoi character, and of course mentioning the video where his child was filming his only fans content. It will again be noted that the video in question was reported to CPS who did nothing other than label it as RTB before closing it out as they were unable to follow up according to a whistleblower inside the department who shall remain unnamed to keep them protected.

Boyd would go on to have a total of four CPS reports filed against them for various things regarding the care of their children and their general online behaviors involving minors. He does openly brag about these cases being closed, it should be noted that these cases were closed due to inactivity and the state of Texas's poor child care and protective resources. No allegations have been proved false given there is photographic and video evidence of the care and mistreatment of his children.

After Boyd decided to “cry wolf” he moved to threatening myself and others with doxing on his stories, which would have ended incredibly poorly for him, and frankly this didn’t deter me as I’ve been doxed before. No what got to me was his desire to sexualize and fetishize me, a survivor of Rape and CSA, against my will. I do talk about this in a video, for context I am a trans man that does drag, this does not warrant the sheer amount of transphobia and sexual comments I received. I did step away from my platform for about a week after this which is around the time the statement from the minor, alleging he was groomed and had sent photos to Boyd, made their submission. Again I will state we believe survivors, please reach out to a trusted adult or local authorities if you have been a victim of grooming or a pedophile.

This of course would not be the end of my own harassment as I would later on be hit by a car prompting Boyd to celebrate and make claims he was going to sue me (again), which he never did in either case. Subsequently this would lead to me having to post a video showcasing the blood on my clothes from the night I was hit, talk about the stitches in my head, and show my medical records proving that I had been to the ER as Ribbon’s followers started coming at me en-mass claiming I was lying as if I hadn't posted a video in scrubs once I was released that same night due to being incredibly lucky. To this day myself and others continue to live rent free in Boyd’s head because we hold the information that’ll forever slap him off whatever pedestal he places himself upon.

Myself and Jak would go on to film a 3 ½ hour evidence review (seen here) and covered another incident that happened in 2019 at AWA where Boyd accused a group of cosplayers he was "beefing with" of making a roofie list to allegedly assault and rape popular cosplayers the were going to be attending the convention. Once such person that was on this list recounts going to security about this list and Boyd's actions here:

While it was being processed this is when Boyd’s next set of lies and clout chasing antics would begin again. He took the time to claim that Taversia was running a “Cosplay Cult” The original video where he makes this claim is no longer on his page however there are several videos (here and here ) that reflect this information. I reached out to Taversia for comment and as of writing this I have not received a response but I will update this article when I receive one. That said she did post her own video acknowledging the claims.

Given Boyd’s inclination to lie this wasn’t the only thing he started talking about either having claimed to grow up with a “Danny Chandler” who was allegedly related to Christina Westin Chandler aka Chris Chan, and to have met Chris Chan in person. There is no evidence to back these claims anywhere which means we must assume that this is a lie as Chris Chan is the most well documented person in the history of the internet. This includes everything from family and friends, as far as I am aware. This is largely due to my own unwillingness to delve into the matter given the heinous crimes Chris Chan has been prosecuted and found guilty of.

Wild Employment Claims:

Boyd has also made various claims about being a mental health professional when his education history turns up as a blank in regards to ever completing the degrees necessary. His claims stretch from being a Trauma Care Nurse in the ER to being several different kinds of specialized therapist and/ or psychologist, one specializing in children and another claiming to be for convicted rapists and child predators. At the age of twenty nine to thirty I want to state that both schools in the medical field would not have been possible as to my professional knowledge you have to have certain degrees and clearances in order.

Given his proven time in the military and raising children he would have had to obtain either a ADN or a BSN which can take between 2-4 years, he would need to pass the NCLEX-RN exam, need two years of experience as a registered nurse in the emergency department and take the TCNCC certification course. Depending on the state you would also need to obtain an MSN (Master’s of Science and nursing) which is an additional 2-3 years to become a trauma nurse for the ER.

For becoming a child therapist this can take anywhere from 6-8 years. This is because the following for such a specialized field is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in psychology which takes 4 years, a Master’s Degree which is another 2-3 years, followed by Supervised Clinical Experience which is anywhere from 1-3 years, and finally licensure which is obtained in different ways varying from state to state.

To become a therapist treating sexual predators much the same is required however it should be noted that the type of supervised clinical experience ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 hours would be different and additional to that of a child therapist. Additional specialized training is also required, usually provided by NASTA (National Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers). A separate certification would also be required. At this time I do not remember if Boyd stated that he did this work for a prison or not, but in the event he has made such claims, many prisons may require a Doctoral Degree, which takes 5-7 years to complete, to handle more complex instances.

Boyd has also claimed to work at a domestic violence shelter, GameStop, as well as working in UX design and research according their LinkedIn profile. He also has a website attached to his linked in that is now no longer being paid for and is down. On this website Boyd no only uses an AI face tuned photo but also completely doxes his home address by using it as his business mailing address. I want to add that his residence was incredibly easy to verify, it wasn't even something we were looking for it just happened as we were attempting to figure out if he worked for a legitimate clinic somehow. For this reason I will not be sharing many screen shots of the site as it is both a regurgitation of his Linked in profile and was wholly unfinished while it was still up.

This of course would not be the last time we see Boyd use AI.

Use of Generative AI:

Boyd who claims to win lawsuits and work while also being a parent always talks about how much money he has when it suits him to "brag". So my only question is, if you have all this money why are you using generative AI to create images for your Youtube thumbnails?

Why don't we take a closer look at that pink haired anime girl?

Ribbon even stated that they used AI to make their Bluesky profile image before thinking better of it and deleting the post where they admitted to it.

As a creator myself whose already made thumbnails for myself and others in the post it's not difficult to make a thumbnail for a story time if your camera is on. Even then if your camera isn't on there's plenty of ways to make an original thumbnail without turning to generative AI. AI art is theft, no one should be using it to profit, eith learn how to draw or use programs like Canva with free assets to make your thumbnails. cut out a picture of yourself you really like and get fancy with it. There are so many alternatives, it's not even funny. Using generative AI to steal art is incredibly avoidable.

Recent News:

Remember when I said there'd be more on him falsifying evidence? Well in Boyd’s most recent controversy he pretended to be an “ex Friend” of lily Tino and provided a photo that is the antithesis of a “Nothing Burger”. This photo is not enough to dissuade anyone from the simple fact that, when you begin to repair the audio he distorted the voice, is Boyd’s. For those that listen to the audio it is obvious that Boyd is talking to himself given there is nothing conversational prior, at no point is there an overlap with each other speaking, some of the way its presented also doesn’t make sense, and finally the way both Boyd and this alleged “ex friend” are speaking in a way that is identical to one another. That is to say that episode 16 of the plobcast on his paid for Youtube channel is falsified and undeniably so. Addy Harajuku also covered this as it was spreading misinformation on a mass scale.

And to ensure that Boyd does not garner income from views I have taken the liberty of downloading the recording and hyperlinking it for your listening displeasure, should you feel the need to listen to a problematic person talk to themselves locked in a room for an hour.

Youtuber and alleged AI generated avatar (this is a joke) Dankyjabo both on stream and his second response video showed how to start repairing the audio resulting in the “friend” in question sounding like Boyd. The inciting video regarding this comes from when “would be drama reporter” @dessy_talks on Tiktok took Boyd’s faked interview as gospel and broadcasted the false information to around 3 millions users looking for excuses to be transphobic. When approached about Ribbon’s continued lies and controversies she posted a rather non-apology apology video and has yet to take the video down or post a follow up correcting the information. Dankyjabo’s first video where he talks about this can be found in citations.

Of course this caused Boyd to go down his usual path crashing out and making a rather long video using passive aggressive language and showcasing his usual inability to take accountability when called out with plenty of evidence. To see both the Dankyjabo reaction to this and the video without giving monetization to Boyd I have linked Dankyjabo's video in citations, or you can go to his youtube channel. This was then followed by Boyd posting yet ANOTHER response video where at the end he can be seen putting black makeup on his face and making fun of Dankyjabo,

This sort of unhinged behavior, as seen through these many controversies, are similar to a complete narcissistic collapse as Boyd cannot handle being proven to be a pathological liar. Collapses such as these have resulted in him losing two previous Instagram accounts and the deletion of his own free previews Onlyfans account as he said there were multiple videos like the one mentioned previously in the article. This likely happened because he panicked and could not pinpoint the video users on tiktok were talking about while trying to spin claim after claim to get out of taking accountability for its existence.

This is all to say that Steffanie K Boyd, AKA Anime Ribbon / Anime Ribbon Fairy / Mistress Ribbon, is not to be trusted around anyone or children and should be avoided at all costs. They have proven time and time again to be incredibly unstable and unsafe as an individual. Boyd's seemingly never ending targeting of trans people also raises red flags despite he himself being a trans man and falling back on that as we see in Dankyjabo's videos to try and weasel out of accountability. If you’re caught in his crosshairs he will threaten you with doxing, lawsuits, and physical violence or you’ll become the next “plob” he talks about sending one of his many burner accounts to your mutuals and followers with a copy pasta style message warning them about the harm you're allegedly doing while calling out his problematic behavior.

The same cycle repeats over and over every few months, to the point where many a comment section makes exasperated comments.

Here's hoping we can finally put a stop to this.
