Agatha All Along has been getting better and better with every episode. Last week we got some great emotional moments from all of our witches and a vulnerable moment between Teen and Agatha. Even more than that we got gay confirmation from Agatha and Rio! The effects team and the cinematographer continue to produce absolutely incredible visuals. Agatha is the MCU’s lowest budget show and yet it is the most stunning to watch. Between the top tier visuals, the incredible storytelling and the unbelievable chemistry between the cast, Agatha is so far, the best thing that the MCU has ever produced.
So the Salem Seven are very clearly on the road with our coven and I LOVE that they kept the group's ability to transform. It was very eerie and an incredibly creepy beginning to the episode. It essentially traps our witches. I also love that Rio starts off by defending Agatha.
I love how much of the magic in this show is based in ritual. It's very specific, certain things need to be done in a specific order. There was clearly a lot of research put into this show as far as pagan traditions and how they operate. This is the best explanation of magic in the MCU so far.
The next rail is clearly set in the 80s. I am fully loving that each of these trails seems to be set in a completely different era. And thus each trial is a completely different design. It keeps the show visually interesting and each design lends itself to the trail which is great.
Agatha’s trail forces her to communicate with the dead. She clearly doesn’t want to, she is holding back because she is afraid of who this trail is going to bring to her. It could be her old coven, it could be her son, it could be anyone.
This trial seems to turn the coven against Agatha intentionally. Everyone seems on board with punishing her except for Teen. Agatha gets possessed by some kind of evil spirit. One that seems to be allergic to light. Agatha is in fact being forced to face her mother. Rio refuses Agatha’s mother. I love that they shared a moment last week and now Rio is her #1 defender. They are wonderful together and if I don’t get a kiss from them before this series is over I will riot. When Agatha’s mom says that she was born evil and that she should have killed her when she was born you can feel the coven feel for her. Then Agatha kills Alice and even Tenn turns against her. It was very clear to me that Agatha did not intentionally kill Alice. It was entirely an accident. I don’t think that Agatha has any real control over her power to absorb other people’s magic. I think it is an all or nothing kind of thing. And I think that the possession from her mother kind of forced her to drain Alice. But now Agatha has a little bit of juice back. And Teen is pissed and hurt.
Agatha tells Teen that he is so much like his mother, meaning something about absorbing Alice’s power allowed her to know who he is. Teen controls the minds of Lilia and Jennifer tossing them into the quicksand. And Wiccan is revealed.
Now we already knew that Teen was Billy but we get to see him use his powers for the first time. And I love that his little crown looks just like Wanda’s. Now they didn’t actually call him Billy but we all know. We ended with most of the coven sinking into mud. But mysteriously Rio has seemed to disappear. So the next episode is likely to start with her and Billy, obviously we know Agatha isn’t dead because we’ve got a few episodes left and it's her show.
