Agatha All Along

Ep.3

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a year ago 3 min read

The first two episodes of Agatha All Along were a huge hit. The internet has been singing Down the Witches Road for a week now and it is safe to say that we are all obsessed with this phenomenal cast. The show has done an incredible job of setting up the individual stories as well as the big group dynamic. The pacing has been great and the show is a great time. We last left with the newly formed coven opening the door to the witches road and stepping inside. This was of course after Teen was freaked out by the Salem Seven. So here we go with the third episode of Agatha All Along.

Agatha and Teen are at the front of this line headed down the road and Agatha tells him, “Suits you”. The way she talks to him makes me think that she does know who he is. I do think that there is some merit to the theory that Teen is Agatha’s son but I am sticking with the idea that he’s Billy Kaplan. That said I don’t think Agatha knows who put the spell on him. I think she knows who he is, but I don’t think she knows how he showed up, or who put him back in her orbit.

One trial for each skill, I like this because I mentioned before that the MCU has been really terrible at explaining how magic functions in this world. And because there are so many different kinds of magic in the Marvel Universe we needed a project that went a little deeper into explaining some of them. So this whole one trial for each kind of witch thing is very nicely done.

Katheryn Hahn looks amazing in this costume, I'm gonna need an Agatha cosplay immediately. I love that the costumes and the setting changes as the head down the witches road, it really helps keep the show visually interesting. And with all the practical effects and interesting camera angles this (along with WandaVision) is one of the most visually compelling MCU projects.

Okay so they mention Nicholas, and her child sacrifice this actually points more to Teen being Agatha’s son. But Jac really loves her red herrings so this might be a misdirect. Also they finally name dropped Mephisto which now means your baseless fan theories that didn’t make any sense now makes 2% of sense. But that’s it, don’t get too excited.

Each of the witches hallucinations gave us some insight into how long they’ve been alive more than anything else. Obviously they’ve all been through something traumatic but I am assuming more and more will get revealed through each trial. Agatha’s was especially savage, a crying baby and the seeing the dark hold when she pulls the blanket aside. Brutal.

Now the internet knew that Sharron was going to die, the actress only had two episodes listed on her IMDB so we knew that she wasn’t going to be in the rest of the series but it was still sad to see her go. I think her character became a fan favorite pretty quickly.

I’d really like to see the next few episodes focus on the next trials. I think they offer a lot in the way of character development. It’s also a great framing device to experience how these women handle different forms of pressure and how their magic manifests itself. They really seemed to focus on the idea of Teen being Agatha’s son this episode. All roads seemed to point to Nicholas by the end of this, I guess only time will tell.
