1. Extreme Privacy makes a difference
Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber each gained their claim to fame during the late 1970s. She started in the television series Mork and Mindy and My Sister Sam. Harmon had television roles at that time on shows like Laverne and Shirley, Emergency, Ozzie's Girls, and Centennial.
The couple met through friends during the early 1980s and were married on March 21, 1987. The wedding took place in the chapel at the Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, California. Harmon was an alum, of the prestigious university and was a 1969 graduate. Dawber has said she believes that remaining low-key and keeping personal business private is one reason the marriage has survived. For a Hollywood couple they are very low-key.
2. Dawber gave up her career
Dawber chose to walk away from her career so she could be a stay at home mother Although Dawber was successful with My Sister Sam and Mork & Mindy and her priorities changed once she became a mom. She decided to raise her children herself, rather than hiring someone else to assist her. The couple has two sons: Sean Thomas Harmon, born April 25, 1988, and Ty Christian Harmon, born June 25, 1992.
Sean followed in his parent's footsteps as an actor and has portrayed the younger version of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS several times. Dawber said the following regarding her decision to Closer Weekly: “I had children and it was like, ‘I’m not going to chase this fame thing, " I wanted to drive my kids to school. I wanted to be there for their birthdays and bring cupcakes and doughnuts. And I was very happy to do it.”

They have also done a theater productions of Love Letters. Harmon has made it clear that he and his wife do not desire to work together as he said the following to the The AV Club.
“Onstage, we’ve done a number of different productions of Love Letters in different places. I was a Bob Clark fan—actually, my wife is, too—and it’s just a good script. A good story. But the plan was not to work opposite my wife from the beginning. She’s got her own brain and her own decision process. But it was interesting for all those reasons. Fun to do. And different.”
