4 SERIES that will draw you in
Available on Netflix, TV or Amazon Prime.

1. 'Unbelievable'

'Unbelievable' is an American drama web tv miniseries. It follows a teenager Marie who was charged with lying about having been raped and two female detectives (Merritt Wever and Toni Collette) who followed a difficult path to arrive at the truth.
The story is based on real-life events. It was inspired by a Pulitzer Prize-winning article by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong titled "An Unbelievable Story of Rape" (2015).

'Unbelievable' consists of 8 episodes. The show is very well made and from the second episode onwards you basically can't wait to see how the story ends. It draws you in. It might seem to you that the show is rather slow and not very suspenseful, but trust me it is very exciting to watch and very often keeps you on your toes. 'Unbelievable' is filled with wonderful performances by Toni Collette (Hereditary, Little Miss Sunshine), Merrit Wever (Into the Wild) and Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart).

Sometimes shows and movies that we watch are so moving and the subject matter so important and relevant that all we want to do is to convince other people to watch it. This show stays with you. It proves how one insensitive decision from a professional can lead to a disaster. This story inspired many people and made lots of positives changes. For instance, detectives in America are now getting extra training about rape victims.
'Unbelievable' is a Netflix original and you can watch it now on the platform.

2. 'Fleabag'

'Fleabag' is a British comedy-drama tv series created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who also stars as a lead in the show. It was produced for BBC Three in a co-production with Amazon Studios.
The story is based on the titular Fleabag (Waller-Bridge), a free-spirited and sexually active but very confused and angry woman in London. Phoebe Waller-Bridge has received two Emmy Awards for her performance in the series as well as the writing and a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance as an Actress in a Television Series- Musical or Comedy, among many other awards. The show is filled with incredible supporting roles such as Claire (Sian Clifford) who's the older sister of the titular character. In 2019 she received an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Claire. Oscar-winner Olivia Colman stars in the series as 'an evil stepmother'. In 2019 she also received an Emmy nomination for her role in Fleabag. All three characters are hilarious scene-stealers.

The show is about a Londoner dealing with the death of her best friend, a troublesome and dysfunctional family, running her own, not a very successful business and navigating unfulfilling and often toxic relationships. Andrew Scott joined the cast of 'Fleabag' for its second season. The second season of the show raises the bar for comedy even more than the first one has. The show consists of 12 episodes in total, 6 per season. Episodes are no longer than 25 minutes each.

3. 'Mindhunter'

'Mindhunter' is an American crime thriller television series created by Joe Penhall, based on the true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit. The series debuted worldwide on Netflix on October 13, 2017. Netflix released the second season on August 16, 2019. 'Mindhunter' is directed by David Fincher ('Gone Girl', 'Zodiac').
The show revolves around the FBI's agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench, along with psychologist Wendy, who operates the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit within the Training Division at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. They interview imprisoned serial killers to understand how they think, with the hope of applying this knowledge to solve ongoing cases.

The show is trying to eliminate the usual conceptions coming with thriller and crime shows. Sometimes it is funny. Often it is chilling. But however you take it, Mindhunter is working a fresh angle and draws you in. It's a well-executed, smart, and suspenseful work of crime drama. It does start slow, but well worth the wait.

4. 'Killing Eve'

Killing Eve is a British spy thriller television series, produced in the UK for BBC America. Killing Eve is the story of two women, bound by a mutual obsession. Eve is an MI6 operative, and Villanelle is a beautiful, psychopathic assassin that Eve has been tasked to find. Throughout the eight-episode first season, Eve learns more about Villanelle, eventually driving her to the point of obsession. Eve finds herself more and more overwhelmed by becoming the object of Villanelle's affection. Eve and Villanelle begin a game of cat and mouse that is not only exciting but at times hilarious, thanks to the incredible writing from its creator, mentioned before Fleabag's very own Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Grey's Anatomy fans will be happy to see the incredible Golden Globe winner, Sandra Oh up as titular Eve, slightly awkward yet passionate MI5 worker who becomes obsessed with Villanelle, while Doctor Foster star Jodie Comer who won an Emmy Award for her role in the series, steals every scene as the memorable villain, Villanelle. Harry Potter's Fiona Shaw also appears as the MI6 boss Carolyn Martens.
Seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch now. By January 2020, Killing Eve had been renewed for both a third and a fourth season. Season 3 of the show will premier on April 12th, 2020. Filming for the first season began on 17 July 2017 in Tuscany, extending to further locations in Paris, Berlin, Bucharest. It's so interesting to see how dynamically the locations in the show change. 'Killing Eve' will give you everything that you expect from a good thriller show.
