30 Day Anime Challenge

Happy New Year! I saw this post on Pinterest and thought it was a fun little challenge to do for the first month of the New Year. I did a challenge similar to this back in 2013 so I am curious to see if my tastes have changed much in the past 10 years.

I think the purpose of this challenge is to just post a picture but me being the extra person that I am, I will write a blog about each topic.

This is different from what I am used to blogging, which makes me excited to test my creativity and go back to find the answers to these writing prompts.

Day 1 Anime you want to watch

I am pretty sure anyone who reads this would laugh and say what I did "I'm only allowed to pick 1?" Yeah I am not going to be able to do that. So here is a list of the top 5 anime I want to watch in 2023!!

Attack on Titan

Storyline: Over a century ago, mankind was devoured by giant beings of unknown intelligence and origin known as Titans – creatures that eat humans alive indiscriminately and for no apparent reason. The remaining population has managed to survive the last hundred years only by building a multi-walled city capable of keeping the Titans at bay, training military recruits to patrol the perimeter, and gathering intelligence about their mysterious foe. Eren and Mikasa have lived a relatively peaceful life behind the city's walls, but when a massive Titan appears, smashing the outer barrier and unleashing a wave of terror, their lives are brutally changed forever...

Why do I want to see it? Well as much as I love to see people get all worked up and shocked that I haven't seen attack on titian I have always wanted to watch it. I was 14 when the first season was released so I remember the explosion of the fandom. I was addicted to binging short anime at the time so the thought of waiting a week for the next episode would have driven me crazy. I thought I would just wait until season 1 ended, and then thought I'd wait for season 2 to end, and you can see where I am going with this. With the final part of the final season releasing this year I am ready to binge the whole series and join the attack on titian fandom before it ends.

The Ancient Magus Bride

Storyline: Chise Hitori was a child nobody wanted. Told by her mother that she should never have been born and passed from one neglectful guardian to the next, the young girl has grown up feeling lost, hopeless, and emotionally numb. At age fifteen she sells herself into slavery, desperate for a home where somebody - anybody - actually wants her to be there, and is purchased by a mysterious being with a skull for a head. He whisks Chise off to his home in England and introduces her to a world of talking animals, dragons, and faeries, declaring that she is to become his apprentice in magic... and also his bride!

This is a newer anime I have heard of and I am extremely interested in the story. My favorite Disney movie has always been beauty and the beast. People complain about Stockholm syndrome with that story, but I just like to believe that belle was able to see the beast for the good person that was deep inside. This anime gives me the same vibes so I am excited to see it.

Haikyuu!!

Shoyo Hinata isn't a large guy, but he's got huge ambitions. Ever since seeing a small player score in a National Championship, he's been determined to become the next big thing in High School Volleyball. Unfortunately, the one time he was able to pull enough players together to form a team in junior high, they were completely trashed in their first and only match against a team led by up-and-coming setter Tobio Kageyama. Now, enrolled at the same high school where his idol once played, Shoyo's finally going to get his shot to join and play with a top team. There's just one problem: Tobio Kageyama's decided to attend the same school, and he's already considered one of the best players in the game. Can a kid out of nowhere hold his own against the King of the Court? Or could rivalry and competition be the best thing for both of them?

My only real reason for not watching Haikyuu!! sooner is because it is a lot of episodes. I have heard nothing but good things about this anime, so maybe having a lot of episodes won't be a bad thing if I love it. Sports anime always surprises me because I can't stand watching sports in real life. But for some reason, any sports anime, and I am so entertained with swimming or basketball or in this case volleyball.

Assassination Classroom

Storyline: A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he's the best teacher they've ever had!

This was another anime that came out and exploded in the anime world. I saw this anime everywhere and have had it on my list to watch since 2015. There's no good reason for not watching this other than I haven't pushed play. I am all for a creative story and this is one of the most creative ones that I have seen out there. With such a highly rated anime by both critics and audiences, it is one of the tops of my list to watch this year.

The way of the househusband season 2

Storyline: It’s a day in the life of your average househusband — if your average househusband is the legendary yakuza “the Immortal Dragon”! A former yakuza legend leaves it all behind to become your everyday househusband. But it’s not easy to walk away from the gangster life, and what should be mundane household tasks are anything but! He was the fiercest member of the yakuza, a man who left countless underworld legends in his wake. They called him “the Immortal Dragon.” But one day he walked away from it all to walk another path — the path of the house-husband! The curtain rises on this cozy yakuza comedy!

I freaking loved season one. I laughed hard throughout the show and hoped that Netflix would continue with season two. My wish has been granted and season 2 will be out this month!! This is at the top of my list and I will be watching this as soon as it is released. If you haven't seen the way of the househusband yet I cannot recommend it enough, Especially if you need a good laugh.

I am ready for a year of fun anime and actually getting around to watching my want-to-watch list. There are a bunch of huge shows coming out this year that I am excited about as well! I know there is a lot of great anime out there and not having enough time to watch them all is a struggle. I hope that I can help you find some great anime to entertain you.

Studio Ghibli Annoucement

Did you grow up with movies like Spirited Away or Howls moving castle? or maybe you grew up with Star Wars or Indiana Jones? What would you say if I told you they are going to be working together???
