Why 7 Days to Die is A Great Game: It gets better the more you play

I am so totally brave

Day after my second blood moon. Went to my downstairs level and found some loot bags waiting for me, perfect. No live zombies and many destroyed spike traps even better, and a bunch of holes in the walls. Spent the day putting traps back and repairing the holes in the walls to prepare for mini hordes or the occasional zombie that wandered by. Then went out and gathered some more resources. Pretty boring day and went back home to spend the night.

Next day comes, and I decide to spend some time looting houses and filling my jars. I venture back to the house by the river and find my way inside. Looked clear of zombies, only to have them jump down from the rafters above and scare the crap out of me! I died again. Wake up back home, owing death some more XP. Grab an extra club and run back to get my stuff. Successfully grab my stuff and get my revenge on those crafty devils and even find some food and stuff to make blunderbuss ammo.

Journey up the road a little farther and find a couple cars, and even a small convenience store. Loot outside the store, too afraid to go in, and head home. Finding the occasional bird nest for eggs and feathers and one of those rocks I need to make gunpowder. Make some more spikes for outside my house and gather some clay to start building some farms. Spend the night again making some farms and doing some inside renovations.

Next day comes, I venture outside and find a mini horde wandering around. But lo and behold, there is also a giant wolf. I try to hit it and bring it below me so I can kill and eat it. But as I watch, it starts killing zombies for me! So I kind of let it do it's thing and even try to help out until I hit it and it runs to my house. So the zombies see me and run to under my house. I don't see the wolf or hear it. So I dispatch the zombies that make it through the spikes and then head down to look for the dog.

It seems to have disappeared, until it comes from behind and nearly kills me. I shoot it with my blunderbuss and kill it. More meat! I'm butchering it and get hit from behind by another mini horde and die yet again. Hello death! I'm in so much XP debt to you but thanks for bringing me back again. I lure the zombies to my house, pop down and grab my stuff, and the wolf's body despawns. Whyyyy zombies why would you do this to me? So I finish off the ones in the house and then go cook me some meat.

Night comes, spent more time renovating. Decide to head to the burnt biome nearby and see if there are more houses and garbage to loot. Along the way I don't see many zombies, so I'm slightly jumpy. Once I get to the house I find a hole in the floor and ceiling and a couple zombies. Basic stuff like food and then lo and behold I find a freaking GUN SAFE! I can't get in but I have lock picks at home so I figure I'll finish looting and come back later.

Journey home and unload my stuff only to find I did not in fact have lockpicks. So I wrap up the day and plan on going back and breaking into that safe. Head back to the house the next day ready to spend the whole day breaking into that safe only to find no guns, only ammo and a club. So I decide to loot the basement and find food and more ammo for a gun I don't even have.

Meandering about, I find so many bird nests and garbage piles I'm set for a long while food wise. During all this wandering I found the necessary resources to make a forge and get some forged iron. Then after seeing a storm brewing I head back home and get some forging done. Spent the next couple of days gathering all the resources I could and fortifying. Digging holes and filling them with spikes, filling all the spaces with spikes and just overall fortifying.

I wander over to the trader at some point to see if I can find anything good. And lo and behold he has a gun! Well one I could potentially afford, so I sell as much as I can and now we got a nice machine gun. I've got a bit of ammo so I save it for a rainy day but it's nice to have on hand. By this point I realize the blood moon is upon me and I just sold all my resources for a gun. Cue me frantically gathering all I can and heading back home hoping I don't die.

I forgot to mention that during this time I've put a few farms together and grown some mushrooms for food. That night the blood moon comes and it's the loudest I've heard yet. I frequently check all my exits and hear zombies taking damage so I assume my spike moat and spike covered first floor have done what I wanted them to. That night, I don't see any zombies again. Not sure how I managed it but I've successfully survived a third blood moon.

Thank you all for joining me again for another walkthrough of my third week of 7 Days to Die, and remember to wash your hands.
