Customs is Truly the Best Map in the Game
(Intro) Customs is one of the quintessential maps to ever be made for EFT. As one of the oldest maps in the game on offer, it has gone through many different iterations over the years. And with each adjustment or expansion, the map continued to get better. And now in 2025, we have ultimately reached the apex of what this map can offer. I doubt we will be getting any further expansions to it, and there are other maps in the game that need those resources and time put into it. To me, it ranks in the highest position possible for maps that I both enjoy playing, and think are the most immersive in terms of EFT’s world and atmosphere. Tarkov’s Found in Raid Hideout – 51 Days Later
(Intro) So, alongside the flea market changes that we discussed in the previous video, BSG also made it so that upgrading your modules in the hideout now needed the found in raid status for most barter items. A month and a half later, and we’re going to talk about the impact this change has had on the game and how people go about interacting with the hideout. Between the hideout and the flea market, I’d say the latter being locked off for two weeks was more impactful because almost everyone uses the flea market for one reason or another. But the hideout? Technically, you can play the game and never use it. You don’t have to invest any time, money or items into it. But EFT heavily incentivizes you to do so. There’s a lot of good that can come from the hideout, but you need to put in the work to see the fruits of that labor. Either way, a month and a half later, and people are still struggling to get even the basic modules upgraded to progress through the rest of the hideout. I know I was, and honestly are still there. It’s been quite a challenge that will hopefully be either adjusted going forward, or simply reverted for whenever the next wipe will occur.

Tarkov’s Flea Market – 46 Days Later
(Intro) It has been over forty-six days since the start of the wipe, as of the recording for this video. But this wasn’t just a regular wipe. BSG wanted to try some new things with gameplay mechanics that have been integral since their introduction. One of which was completely locking down the flea market for two weeks just to see what would happen. Funnily enough, it ended up being closer to three weeks when everything was all said and done. It was the first time since the flea market was added that the entirety of it was locked off. No barters, no listings. Nothing. I was both excited and interested to see what the general consensus was going to be from the community. I had a feeling that people would despise the change and just want it back. But to my surprise, it seemed like people were okay with it being gone for two weeks. On top of that BSG was collecting data once the market was back through an in-game survey which we will be looking at and discussing too. So, let’s talk about Tarkov’s flea market, over a month later and how it might not be as universally loved in the early game as some might’ve thought.

Covert Movement in Tarkov Works Again
(Intro) It finally feels like Tarkov has allowed players to be sneaky in combat once more. For the longest time, players had major difficulties with being sneaky in raid; finding opportunities to ambush a player or even group of players without being heard from a mile away. There have been a lot of changes culminating in this style of play feeling viable once more. Funnily enough, none of them directly targeting covert movement the soft skill. But a lot of other changes around audio and how players move. From headsets sounding and functioning differently, to a new audio system that is now universal across all players, after what has felt like years of not being able to be quiet when you want to be, there is now reason and advantage to sometimes slowing down and just listening to what’s around you. And I don’t even mean in the sense of holding out in a single location waiting for someone to walk into you. I am talking about aggressively being quiet, and taking out other players before they ever even knew you were there. Covert movement is back in full force; it’s been a long time coming.

Does D-2 Ruin Reserve in Tarkov?
(Intro) Reserve was introduced into EFT with patch 0.12. A very momentous occasion for the game; as it was the first time Tarkov began its insane growth period of popularity. From a smaller, more niche experience that was only known for its level of difficulty and obscurity, to something much more known to anyone that enjoys video games. Combine this patch with the first ever Twitch drops even for Tarkov, and you have monumental growth the likes of which we hadn’t seen before. Reserve at the time, was the newest map to be added into the game. And I can only speak for myself, but when it was first added, I found the map to easily be the most challenging map in the game (excluding labs of course). With its obtuse square design, and the lack of any real sense of direction I should be going to reach my extraction, it plays very differently from most other maps in the game. Something like Customs or even Interchange makes sense; you spawn on one side, and need to work your way to the other. Reserve doesn’t really work like that because its extractions are so different. The train and the hermetic door were your only two guaranteed ways of escaping if you didn’t have a red rebel. And for a while, it stayed that way. Until one patch, where BSG decided to add a brand new entire underground bunker area beneath the already existing map. It was kind of mind boggling when people first discovered it. And while that part of the map is insanely cool, and honestly stressful, as time went on, I found that people more often than not just end up underground; ignoring most of the map up top. Of course, early on this isn’t the case; people still need to complete quests and the like. But all that begs a question: does D-2's existence somewhat sour playing Reserve as a whole?
