When is the Best Time to Get into Tarkov?
(Intro) For anyone who is curious about EFT, whether you are thinking about buying the game, or wondering if you should jump back into it, there is no better time to play Tarkov, than right now. With the rapid approach of the 1.0 release later this year, it seems as though we won’t be getting anymore wipes until then. Which means no more opportunities to play when everyone is on the same playing field. For some people, the idea of jumping into the game this late into a wipe cycle can evoke two camps of thought: they will either love the difficulty of going up against geared players, or stress at having to compete with people who are so well equipped. And my advice would be to simply take the game and its moments as they come. Tarkov is such a uniquely open game regarding how things during a raid can play out. You could have the perfect plan to complete a bunch of tasks, or some specific parts of the map you want to loot and explore. And all it takes is one other player, or AI to throw everything in chaos; being adaptable on the fly is one of the strongest skills to have when playing. And you’ll experience moments like that regardless of what part of the wipe we are currently in. Mistakes are bound to happen and that’s okay; this game encourages losing through experience and learning from them. And you’d be surprised by how many players are at a lower level. I’d had plenty of lobbies recently where the average level was anywhere from fifteen to thirty. So, if you want to get into Tarkov for any reason, now is the best time to do so.

The Easiest Solution for Longer Tarkov Fights
(Intro) Tarkov fights can feel like either an instant one tap, or a long grueling battle of flanking, repositioning, and trying to get the better of your opponent. It’s been this way for quite some time; the nuance of players engaging with other players can be lost at times due to how insanely fast the time-to-kill can be in the game sometimes. If you have poor protection, you feel like you always get dropped by another player before you could register he was even there. And if you have bad ammo, you feel like you dump an entire magazine into someone and they just soak the damage, turn around, and take you out. It never feels like both parties in the fight are on even grounds. And while that’s partially the intent behind EFT and the nature of an extraction game, there have been some attempts to bring the power levels more in line. One example is almost five years old; when BSG decided to raise the health points of the thorax from eighty to eighty-five. Although small in relative terms, it was seen as a huge shake up because now many powerful ammos that were popular at the time could no longer one tap a player. And if BSG or even the players want longer fights in the game, they could lean into that change once more. The easiest change to make in the game for longer fights, would be to raise the HP of the thorax again, all the way to one hundred. And it might do more good than harm. Hear me out.

Long Range Tarkov is the Best Way to Play the Game
(Intro) There’s about a thousand and one different ways to play and engage with Tarkov. But the best way, is any form of long ranged capability. Something about being distant from your target, completely unaware of your presence; with good positioning, timing, and some luck, a single bullet can end a fight before it even begins. Luckily, EFT facilitates the use of long ranged weaponry better than any other playstyle. With tons of weapons, attachments and maps that really lean into this gameplay, it feels the most unique and both easy and hard at the same time. There’s a lot that goes into effective ranged play, and while there is definitely a conversation to be had about the acquisition of some items which we’ll get into, as a whole, there aren’t many other games out there that deliver the same gratification Tarkov does when you take down a target from hundreds of meters away, with a single shot. Today, I wanted to go over ranged gameplay in EFT and why it’s my personal favorite way to play, and why everyone should engage with it more often.
