Riddle Shorts

Riddle Shorts – A Riddle comprised into a short story. Clues will be embedded throughout the story. The answer is usually either a Fictional Character or a Non-Fictional person. The clues within the short rely solely on the reader to determine who is the Character.

Example: The chef wears his blue apron every day like it is apart of him. This not just any chef he is a baker, who loves cupcakes and cookies. However, that is not the most interesting part he drives a Monster truck to his business.

Answer: Cookie Monster

Clues: Blue Apron, Loves cookies, Monster truck

This is a different approach on a riddle where the reader has to be really alert on context clues and see how they relate to each other.

I came up with this concept by watching these British Guys on YouTube with a channel called shxtsngigs. One of the guys always had a riddle where he creates a story that has embedded clues to who the character is. I was very intrigued by this concept and decided to create a log that I will post twice a month of 3 riddles that I call “Riddle Shorts”. Can you guess them without looking at the answers?

1. A Jog at Night [Non-Fictional Character]

There was this time I went out for a jog at Midnight and the Sky had an eeriness in the air. While worrying about my track meet tomorrow, I disregarded this strange sense. As I continued down the road, I overheard a loud voice yelling. The closer I got the more pronounced the words became. It seems to be someone is looking for a missing relative. Since at the moment I am in another country, I was glad to see another American. I asked the guys yelling who was lost? I really wanted to help if possible. This guy named Archie said he was missing a three-legged dog named King. While placing my jogging on hold for a minute I offered assistance. The Sun has now come up. Right before I was about to call it quits, I saw a three-legged dog just sleeping in a box. I alerted Archie to what I found. Archie acknowledged, thanked me, and left. Now that was over, it was time to get ready for my event. Sigh! It’s going to be one fine day!

2. It’s a Wonderful Life [Fictional]

Time to go to work, I guess. See, I work at this Airport and one day working there is never easy, but it does sometimes have its pleasantries. So, one big thing is I can never find my ear covers, they always come up missing. So, I always have to ask for new ones. Then I have to deal with this coworker that is always causing issues where I am the one cleaning up his mess. The guy for one needs to find shoes that fit and get on the dental plan we have. Then there is my boss, always yelling for no reason. This cat really cracks me up because since he was in the services, he thinks he is better than everyone else. Always walking around with his colors on, sad. Then there is this girl. You know there is always a girl. I think she is the one for me. She always wears these red pattern shoes with a glitter bow on the side of her sneakers. We act and talk much alike. We even have the same taste in foods. We both are huge fans of White Castle Burgers.

3. Afro Puffs [Non-Fictional Character]

So, I met this girl named Gia. She was a peach. Very beautiful and always modest. She wanted to go to this restaurant that was rated 8 out of 10 stars. I wonder why they missed the other two. Well, we proceeded to the spot, and she got the Catfish with Sweet Tea, and you know me I had to get the Beer Battered Chicken with a Pepsi. After we ate, I offered to pay for some theater tickets. She wanted to go to this one about mind control. That was my first time ever going to one. Next time we go though, I will be more interested about the one hanging from the ceilings.
