REVIEW / Imagine Earth (PC)
In the not-too-distant future, mankind boldly goes where none have dared before, the vast reaches of space. In the Serious Bros’ debut title, Imagine Earth, it’s up to the players to take an environmentally conscious approach to planetary colonization as we extend our reach through the stars. Build, compete, sustain, and ultimately create a planet that’s worth calling home.

PREVIEW / Tandem: A Tale of Shadows (PC)
I love a good puzzle game. The thing about puzzlers is they’re usually full of interesting mechanics. We’re generally talking about very simple things too. I mean, who thought a bunch of falling blocks would captivate the world for thirty-odd years? At the most basic level, sticking a bunch of letters or numbers into a grid can be extremely satisfying. My point is the building blocks can be as basic as you like, it’s all about what you do with them. This little thought leads me nicely into the game we’ve got our eye on today. It’s called Tandem: A Tale of Shadows, and it’s taking some fairly simple ideas and doing wonderful things with them. Excitingly, this is also a preview so we can look at it together before it comes out.

PREVIEW / RECONNECT : The Heart of Darkness (PC)
I, like many, can get a bit stuck when it comes to the RTS genre. I enjoy playing the A.I, but it can get so predictable that the challenge will dissipate. When it comes to PvP in strategy games, I’m terrified because I’m more of a casual fan and think the other players are going to demolish me. So what is a casual RTS player to do? The answer could come in the form of RobotHeart Labs’ RECONNECT – The Heart of Darkness which sets out to accomplish what few, if any, have attempted before: an enemy A.I. that learns and adapts to how you play.

Sims 4: Country Livin' Review
They’ve finally done it. After years of fans asking, practically begging, daydreaming of an official farming expansion pack, The Sims 4 have finally given us what we’ve asked for. I’ve been playing The Sims for as long as I can remember, from watching my Aunty play the first game when I was too young to play myself, to getting my own laptop and a copy of The Sims 2 (and using every birthday as a chance to bag a new expansion pack), to buying my own gaming PC and every single one of The Sims 3 and 4 expansions (aside from Journey to Batuu). It’s safe to say that I knew a thing or two about the game, and that I had a lot of expectations for such an eagerly awaited for expansion as this. As soon as I got paid, I downloaded the game, barely containing my excitement to begin my farming adventure.

Halo Infinite Tech Preview
The first test flight of Halo Infinite came and went, we have had our chance to slay bots and let that gameplay marinate. There are plenty of severely disappointed people and others who were like a kid in a candy store. Some valid criticism was thrown out, but also plenty of cry babies who will never be satisfied. I fit in more with the “kid in a candy store” group. I'm pretty sure I jumped out of my chair when I got that email inviting me to be a part of this first tech review, scaring my cats in the process due to my shout of excitement. Despite my excitement, there are a few things I hope will be improved up and others that I think were nailed right on the head.

REVIEW / Mario Golf Super Rush (Switch)
Back in 2018 when frequent Nintendo collaborator Camelot Software Planning released Mario Tennis Aces for the Switch, my hype train kicked into overdrive. The revival of one of my favorite series was on the horizon, and 3 years later it all came together with the release of Mario Golf Super Rush. This is the first console entry in the series since the Gamecube title back in 2003 and the first title in the series at all since the 3DS game in 2014. So I waited with baited breath after the Nintendo Direct earlier this year announced the game officially until I could finally start the game up and get back to the Mushroom Kingdom links.

TEAM PREVIEW / Entity Researchers (PC)
In my humble opinion the term, “retro” is starting to lose some of its meaning. Anything and everything that uses 8 or 16-bit graphics is “retro,” and the fact that some of these games use very modern concepts gets completely lost in translation. As I’m becoming a bit of a gaming Methuselah, I remember when certain mechanics that we take entirely for granted now were really cutting edge. I also remember when we weren’t looking for stellar graphics and three hundred-hour-long opuses to have fun. If you got a bunch of colored blocks bouncing around a level made from more colored blocks you were very happy. This is where Entity Researchers comes in. To me, at least, this is a truly, “retro” game. It’s not long appeared on Steam Early Access and I wanted to see whether it was up to scratch.

REVIEW / Cotton Reboot! (PS4)
Who likes a good side-scroller, then? This is one of those genres that was made for the amusement arcade. Shove your coin in the slot, hit a button, get finger cramp trying not to get blown to bits by far too much happening at once; avoid any impending seizures from the flashing objects, die, rinse and repeat. This was literally a general mantra for twelve-year-old me and I absolutely loved every second of it. Shift forward twenty-odd years and the side-scrolling shooter is still one of my favorite things to get involved in. This is where Cotton Reboot! comes in. It’s frantic, colorful, lethally addictive and it’s been burning flashy objects into my retinas for a little while now. You’re absolutely going to want to hear more about this amazing little blaster and I’m absolutely about to tell you.

REVIEW / Song of Horror (Xbox)
I decided to play Song of Horror in the middle of the day with my cats cuddled next to me because I was not ready to handle anything creepy at night. Even with the sun shining through my windows, this third-person survival horror adventure successfully delivered a suspense-filled atmosphere that is not for the faint-hearted.

Tragic Subterfuge - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
(DISCLAIMER: Mild story spoilers ahead.) I remember playing the Zelda games (or at least, watching my older siblings play the Zelda games, the greedy, controller-hogging… anyway…) all throughout my childhood. Of the few Zelda titles I was able to play to completion growing up, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, is, hands down, one of the most—if not the most—influential games I have ever had the joy and privilege of playing.
