Nintendo Nerds
Nintendo is what Genesis isn't. Kirby, Mario, Pikachu, and beyond; all about the creators of our favorite games.
It’s Back And It’s Bittersweet
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp can now be experienced by IOS and Android users alike. Differentiating dramatically from the console version, it’s still very similar. You as the player get to customize your character and play as you would in the console, performing tasks for residents to gain materials to build up your campsite! Unlike many other mobile games, this one doesn’t seem to rely heavily on purchases to advance in the game.

With Super Mario Odyssey taking the gaming scene by storm, selling 2 million copies in only 4 days, everyone is falling head over heels for Nintendo's favorite plumber again along with his new companion Cappy, who is linked to the new and beloved capture mechanic. Every 3D Mario game has added some sort of gimmick to spice up the platforming formula. Some gimmicks have been better than others and have added interesting dynamics to Mario's platforming, while others have actively detracted from the experience, but which one was the best?

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Quick Review
Disclaimer: I’m in no way represented by Nintendo. I just really love Animal Crossing and want to write about it! Way back in 2007, I received a copy of Animal Crossing: City Folk for Wii as a Christmas gift. Ever since then, I’ve been an avid fan of the franchise. The relaxing gameplay, the cute atmosphere, I could go on and on about my undying love for Animal Crossing. When Nintendo announced an Animal Crossing app, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, I was head over heals. I couldn’t wait for it to release in my country, so I took the plunge and made an Australian iTunes account so I could play the game ahead of time (because Pocket Camp is only available in Australia at the moment).

My Relationship with Video Games: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
I've been playing games all my life. I can't tell you how old I was when I first picked up a video game but I can tell you what the game was and the circumstances around it as if it happened yesterday. I was still living in the Philippines at the time and my uncle gave me his Game Boy—the first one which, as some of you may recall, was the big grey brick that needed a fistful of AA batteries to run. The first game I ever played on it? Mortal Kombat. I don't know if that was a good choice on my uncle's part, but luckily the Game Boy wasn't conducive to ultra-violence, if only because it was graphically incapable of rendering it. With a dot matrix display that started to fade when the batteries were running low, the thing could only do so much. But it did enough. It got me hooked.

Gaming, Dad Style
I've always enjoyed gaming—maybe a little too much, at times—but at the beginning of this year, I found out I was going to be a father. Putting aside all the emotions that come with that, I set out to find ways to make my habit a little easier to keep up, even with a newborn around.
