Zombies: The Theory

The zombies in movies are the out of box things. They are just for entertainment purpose. But here we go deep into the facts about zombies. Here I will give real world references about zombies. I am not talking to act like horror, but in fact real horror.

Will there be a day in human life that a fungus or a virus takes control of the human body and brain? If it is to be answered in a single line, I will say "It's not impossible". It may be possible. If there are such microbes that can do this then we are only a step away from 'zombie apocalypse'. According to many scientific studies there are many fungi that can control a healthy animal. These fungi can control the actions, gestures and behavior of an organism. Out of all those fungus the most dangerous mind controlling fungus is 'Ophiocordyceps unilateralis'. This is commonly known as 'zombie fungus'.

When ants move from here and there in search of food. If any ant by chance takes a bit of zombie fungus which may be with that food that ants take. This fungus goes into the body of the ant and controls its body and brain. This fungus directs the brain of an ant to do such things which ultimately kills the ant. Then this zombie fungus comes out of the body of an ant and spreads its colony.

Then this fungus attacks any other ant and doing this repeatedly it spreads its population. After watching this situation in real life, we get an idea of a zombie apocalypse. Due to millions of years of evolution this zombie fungus has learnt to control the brain of its host. While you will be reading this fact story, this fungus will be multiplying somewhere in the world. The safe thing is that it has not evolutinized yet so much that it could harm humans. Till now it can only harm ants. Because the body and brain of the humans are very strong and it's not easy to control it. But the question is that can it ever control humans? Or can any other microbes like zombie fungus do so with humans?

You might be remembering Ebola virus. This was spread due to Bats. This virus spread from the body of Bats and started to affect humans. But it didn't start its journey directly from humans. Ebola first infected Apes and other animals, then revolutionized itself until it could infect humans. The big danger to humans is that what if the same thing happened with this zombie fungus? If it started to attack humans, then for sure humans will be infected to some extent.

When any virus enters into the body, the autoimmune system of our body tries to kill that virus. But, if the virus became successful to attack the human body, then it attacks the host cells of the organism and make it its slave.

If we talk about existing diseases in humans. Is there any disease in humans that is like zombies? Yes! There is a disease in humans that is like zombies. Not actually the same but at least the zombie like. This disease is known as 'Catatonic schizophrenia'. This is such a condition which makes a man unaware of himself. In this disease humans walk like zombies and also talk like them. Because of this disease humans do such things which are totally related to what we see about zombies in movies. In this disease humans don't know why they laugh and why they do so. There is an another disease in which humans feel like they are dead even though they are alive. This disease is known as Cotard delusion.

In the Year 2008, something suddenly happened to an old lady and her family members took her to hospital. There in the hospital bed, she said 'I'm dead, I smell like a dead fish' but in actual she was alive. She also said 'Take me to the mortuary, I want to live with them'. This is an actual case of this disease.

There may be so many people in the world who will not believe what I said in this article. Those kind of people believe that science has uncovered everything in the world. For them let me say one thing:

'The Lancet' is a well reputed weekly science magazine. On October 11, 1997 they published a documentary regarding Zombies under the title "Clinical findings in three cases of zombification" In this article there is a proper study of three real life zombies. You can read that further here.

Those scientists who study the human behavior have observed observed a mysterious thing in humans known as 'Running Amok'. This is such a behavior by which a human due to depression and stress behaves like a wild animal and attack others. After learning all about these types of disease can we say Yes! zombie can be in future. There can be any time the zombie outbreak. That can happen all of the sudden. Anytime any chemical, microbe or anything else can cause this. If anytime this zombie outbreak happened then it would be called zombie apocalypse.
