Saint Valentine was born and lived in Rome during the 3rd century as a Priest. During his reign as a Priest Valentine had disagreement with Emperor Claudius II over single men being a better soldiers than married men with wives and families over a prolong period of time. This situation remains unresolved, and Priest Valentine decided to encourage unmarried couples to get married discretely and when it was exposed Emperor Claudius II ordered the killing of Priest Valentine because of his disobedience of the law imposed. This day is being climax by Lovers expressing their affection with greetings and gifts and those without partners establishing new friendship as they don’t want to be left aside or become lonely.

THE GOOD ABOUT VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION

It is significant to celebrate Valentine day because of the following reasons;

1. Lovers are able to demonstrate true infinite love, sincerity and faithfulness to their partners. It brings about opened mindedness and self consciousness in good relationship towards their future aspirations to make a home.

THE BAD REFLECTIONS ON VALENTINE DAY CELEBRATION

Nevertheless the Valentine Day celebration is important but in some cases it has negative impact on its outcome because of the bad experiences realized.

The following are the sad reflections;

1. DON’T NEED HOLIDAY TO SHOW LOVE

This is a one off case in so many expected situations or circumstances to demonstrate real love and affection to your partner to justify infinite love, happiness and peace in the relationship to ensure faithfulness and dedication to each other.

2. IT’S SUPER ANTI-SINGLE FOR NO REASON

The situation of panic and in complete dissolution is eminent because unplanned partnership could just emerged without any deep or sincere commitment due the abrupt or sudden circumstances to get a partner for the Valentine day celebration

3. INTO IT TURNS RELATIONSHIP COMPETITION

Because the day is a special occasion for young men and women, some of them go in search for the most beautiful or handsome partners to compete with others in areas of interaction, personal presentation and real love in the public domain.

4. SPECIAL GIFTS ARE SIMILAR WITH LIMITED CHOICES OF PREFERENCE

It is noticeably that the gifts on sales for Valentine Day are limited in choices because most celebrants’ presents flowers in red and pink colours to their beloved as a symbol of Valentine’s Day. Because of the supply and demand chain the sale prices are higher than expected.

5. SELECTIVE OF LIMITED VENUES FOR CELEBRATION

The event attracts mostly the young generation of youths than elders, and the climax of the celebration is limited to either popular night clubs or restaurants where they enjoy themselves with music and food of their choices, hence leaving the none socialites partners to be left apart or ignored.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT VALENTINE DAY?

Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self –seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
