Rishi Sunak Is Not Nelson Mandela or Barack Obama: In Any Way, Shape, Or Form!

Some Misguided People Out There.

British Prime Minister: Rishi Sunak.

Reaction to the UK getting it's first British - Indian Prime Minister has been largely welcomed. Both internationally and at home, Britain's first Hindu Prime Minister has been celebrated.

Some have gone as far as saying it is a miracle that a person of colour should hold such high office. And to think even 5 - 10 years ago this would have been unthinkable. The fact that a majority, white European country, would have a person like Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister is remarkable. Of course, in India, and in the Indian/Hindu diaspora around the world it is a proud moment. One of their own is ruling a land that once ruled them. In India, news outlets, it has been billed as: 'The Rishi Raj'.

As Rishi Sunak is a person of colour some have gone on to say it is a Barack Obama or Nelson Mandela moment. It is easy to see why people would say that, especially, from a right-wing party like the Conservatives. Indeed, the Conservatives have been groundbreaking in the sense they have given us 3 women Prime Ministers. The most famous of course was Margaret Thatcher who was admired and hated in equal proportions. As for Theresa May and Liz Truss well they were nothing but a complete and utter disaster. Now we have a Prime Minister of colour occupying the seat of power in the UK at 10 Downing Street.

The difference between Mandela and Obama and Sunak is they were democratically elected. Mandela and Obama's rise was given a mandate and it was seen as a time of hope. Whether Mandela or Obama did anything good for their nations is a matter of opinion. Whereas Sunak has been foisted upon us at a time when the UK is a troubled place. Sunak as Chancellor achieved zero for the UK, was good for the UK, or had mixed results for the UK. That largely depends on who you ask when speaking of the former finance minister.

Sir Keir observed correctly that Rishi Sunak has never won anything democratically. Conservative members largely didn't want him as their leader or Prime Minister. In the contest with Liz Truss to succeed Boris Johnson Tory members wanted Truss. Sunak has only been brought back because despite Penny Mordaunt and Boris because there was no one else.

Sunak has said no to a general election because the polls point to a Labour landslide. Sunak and his cabal of crooks would be soundly booted out of office. Sunak wants to enjoy his time in the sun as Prime Minister come what may.

The British public even many Conservative voters are crying out for a general election. What they don't seem to realize is that the UK works under a parliamentary style of democracy. In other words, during the 5 year lifetime of a government, a leader can be replaced without holding a general election. An internal election in the party decided by MPs or the members or both is allowed to take place. Nevertheless, to the poorest, most deprived areas of our country, this Tory government from hell seems like a never-ending cycle of suffering. To the rest of us, it seems like we are living in a dictatorship where leaders are foisted upon the population with no democratic accountability. Sunak is like Brown before him, putting ambition first: being Prime Minister. Selfish ambition over what the country wants is understandable but wrong.

Another factor comes into play here. I drew the analogy here that Sunak being a person of colour leading the UK is a milestone in our history. And yes no doubt it is when historians come to look back on this period. And with Mandela being Black and Obama Mixed-Race it is easy to see why many would see that comparison. But as I said earlier the people voted for Mandela and Obama. Sunak has been dumped on us and regardless of race, religion, etc, is the 5th Prime Minister in 12 years. Also, Sunak is not white but he is a caucasian if you still hold to the idea of Caucasian, Negroid, and Mongoloid.

In today's world, being Caucasian goes hand in hand with being white. While that is true in Europe, North America, etc, being white is only one string to the bow of being caucasian. A race, if such a concept exists, as we are all human, goes on features, not colour. Mr. Sunak has caucasian features and if you cannot look beyond his colour and see that well you must be blind. Caucasian people range from the northern parts of Europe down to the Mediterranean parts of Europe and North Africa. The Middle East and the Indian sub-continent in Asia also.

Hindi or Punjabi languages something Mr. Sunak would know from his childhood are similar to European languages. Our ancestors spoke a proto- European language that gave rise to every tongue spoken in Europe today.

That early form of European language was derived from Sanskrit something we share with Indian languages. Hence our ancestors are known as Indo-Europeans something Gandhi recognised. Observing that despite the colour difference both Britons and Indians are caucasian with common origins.
