My Night Out in Amsterdam

I loved my adventures and experiences in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is known for its liberal attitude towards weed.

I wanted to get the full experience of Amsterdam so my girlfriend at the time and I decided to try weed.

We wanted to be as responsible as we could so we decided we would go into the city and bring back the weed to our hotel room.

The idea was if anything happened; we were in a safe space in our hotel room.

Plus, we had one another to count on.

So, we set off to the city. We found a spot where we purchased the weed and some weed muffins.

This was a brand-new experience for both of us as we never even bought standard cigarettes in our lives and here, we find ourselves buying weed.

So, we got back to the hotel room with the stuff. We first had the muffins. It tasted like normal chocolate muffins. We enjoyed the taste, and it went down well.

I had it with a cup of coffee. I can never leave out my coffee! Haha.

We decided to smoke the weed later as we did not want to overdose ourselves.

2 hours passed and nothing happened. I thought we wasted our money because absolutely nothing was happening.

Since nothing was happening, we thought maybe they missed adding the weed to the muffins.

So, we got over it and decided to take a tram into the city. We wanted to make the best of the evening in Amsterdam.

We made our way onto the tram. We were still feeling fine. No issues.

Then! Oh my gosh!

My head felt like needles were poking my skull. It was a sensational feeling like I was being tinkled on my scalp and at the same time I was being poked with needles.

I felt like I was standing in the air. My entire body felt weird. I had hot and cold flushes at the same time.

We got off the tram, I could not walk properly.

At this time my girlfriend noticed something was wrong.

Instead of attempting to walk, we decided to sit on a bench and not venture deep into the city.

This was only the physical side effects!

The emotional side effects were scary!

I ended up being over-emotional. I was tearing up and asking my girlfriend whether she loved me.

At this point, my girlfriend was trying her very best to comfort me.

We sat on that bench for over an hour and a half, closer to 2 hours.

Once I started feeling “normal”- we decided to continue our night out into the city.

My girlfriend still seemed all okay.

As we walked around the city, we were laughing uncontrollably. Anything and everything made us laugh.

A bus passed us! Haha!

People were walking on the street! Haha!

Everything that we said and witnessed made us laugh.

Oh, we were on a high!

My girlfriend seemed to experience the happy side effects. I experienced mixed highs and lows.

We managed to make it back safely to our hotel room.

Then we realized we did not smoke the weed. We relaxed and smoked the weed. We laughed a lot more! We went to bed all calm.

This experience took an unexpected turn as we did not expect the weed to take so long to kick in. We also did not expect the emotional side effects of me feeling sad.

If you ever try weed in Amsterdam, please do it in a very responsible manner. Never do it with strangers. Also, bear in mind the side effects of weed are not instant. It took a few hours for it to kick in for us.

Looking back, I feel we could have been more responsible as we should not have gone out after having the weed.

However, it was a unique experience. We wanted to experience this in Amsterdam as the law does not allow it to be done openly here in South Africa.

Please note my dear friends, this is a personal reflection of my experience and in no way am I glorifying or criticizing the use of weed.

Until next time, take care and keep well my friends.
