A little Fun Fact About
New Orleans is known for many things, but for most one thing always comes to mind. Yes, that’s right Mardi Gras! A beautiful event where “parades, masked balls, and the indulgence of food and alcohol” takes place. One thing that is usually associated with Mardi Gras is the beads! Colorful strands of plastic beads that get thrown out into the crowds for people to adorn themselves with for the night. They get stuck in the trees, hang on the branches, and litter the streets. But their beautiful metallic glow gives the city a charm that will be seen through-out the year. Most of us have some of these beads, hanging on our bed frame, or tucked away in a box somewhere never to be let go. Because obviously we earned them! It took work! Especially the big ones or the more unique ones in the bunch. I personally have a box full of my favorite ones that I have collected through out the years.

A Beautiful and Deadly Place
Ever since I can remember, I have been an avid movie buff. However, some movies make a person think, whether they want to or not. Some of my favorite movies are, like a lot of guys, from the action genre. Of those, over the past twenty-five years, there's been a string of apocalyptic movies that were, we hope, only loosely based on the real-life possibilities about our extinction. From the movie Armageddon, all the way to 2012, movie fans have gone to pay money for the privilege of enjoying cautionary tales of things to come. Perhaps none of those movies were so startling to watch as the aforementioned 2012.

Don't touch your face while you sleep!
Okay, so, this is a weird one. At first, I thought I was wrong. I thought, "Maybe it wasn't this". I thought maybe if I changed my diet for the better, maybe if I drank more water before going to bed, something would help. But no, it didn't help. So instead, another thought occured. "Hey! Why not test this theory out fully?" So, I plucked up the courage in order to see for myself. I tried this two or three different times on purpose, and I have to say this. Don't touch your face while sleeping!

Don't Look Up
When people think of bats and Texas they typically think of the bats under the Congress Avenue bridge in Austin, but it is a little known fact that Houston has its own bats too. Located under the Waugh Bridge where it passes over Buffalo Bayou Park, the Waugh Bridge Bat Colony consists of an estimated 250,000 Mexican free-tailed bats, so named because of the lack of webbing or membrane between their tail and their hind legs.

When you're from a small country, seeing things around the world that were made by your nationals is a pretty good feeling. A lot of the time though, we're unaware of the origins of the stuff around us. Think of how many things such as inventions, dishes, and songs that we just consider normal, with no thought given to where they're originally from. Here are a few that you might not know are actually Norwegian.

Some People Can't Recognise Faces
We take a lot of things in our lives for granted, one of them being that we can recognise the people around us. Unfortunately, this is an ability not everyone has, specifically people with prosopagnosia, also called face blindness.
