We Don't Know What We Don't Know.
In one of my previous blogs, I mentioned the day I went onto a racetrack with my friend who races classic cars. We set out in an old Renault 5 with him driving at an astonishing speed (for a Renault 5). We hurtled at corners, hitting the brakes only at the last possible moment and flooring the throttle coming out of the bend. Thrilling! My friend’s confidence in his ability and his belief that I could do the same persuaded me that, having seen him do it, I could do it too. But there is a difference between seeing someone do something and actually doing it and feeling what it feels like to do. Nevertheless, before starting on the track, I was confident that I could do it too.

Cocoon
Ba, bump. Ba, bump. Ba...bump......My heart rate slows and I am totally in the zone. Shut off to the outside world, my noise cancelling headphones protect me from interruptions. I am itching to get going. Ideas swim like colourful, tropical fish around and around in the glass bowl that is my head. A podcast is playing. Check! A freshly brewed, strong coffee is steaming at arms reach. Check! Colourful polymer clay is lined up. Check! My tools are prepared. Check! Hands are at the ready, desperate to make something so I can find release. Hang on! Where is the chocolate? Phew! It's hidden in the creases of the couch. I may desire this later to keep me focused in my happy place. Now, to begin.

Here is a list of 10 vastly different circus perspectives realized through movies, TV, books, and video games.

The Bizarre Case of Gef, The Talking Mongoose
In the Autumn of 1931 the Irving family, residents of a farmhouse at Doarlish Cashen on the Isle of Man, reported the presence of a strange mongoose-like creature that had begun to appear around and inside their home. The bizarre circumstances began when, according to the Irvings, the sound of scratching, rustling, and “vocal noises” were heard within the walls of the tiny farmhouse. Believing it to be a rodent infestation, they placed traps. However, no rodents were found, and the strange noises persisted, growing ever more disturbing. Trying to scare away whatever was causing the sounds, James, the Irving family patriarch, growled like a predator. Far from frightened, the creature growled back.

The Thermodynamics of a Beer Can
Last weekend I made a mistake I am sure many of my readers have experienced, which was that I forgot to put enough drinks in the fridge a couple hours before I needed them. For many this would have been a disaster, and unfortunately, they would have been doomed to drinking warm beers until either they concluded the night or waiting for the process of which never seems fast enough, of their fridge naturally bringing their drink down to a frosty and cool 4-5 degrees Celsius (or 39-41 Fahrenheit if you're dead set on using freedom units) for enjoyable consumption.

Ghosts of our Culture and Tradition that once was!
Sitting huddled by the fireplace, roasting maize after dinner was the ideal pastime for us cousins during our summer vacations while we were young. Often, these sittings by the crackling fire would be accompanied by the narration of folktales by the elder members of the family.
