Google Pixel 6 is a decent smartphone that offers good value for its price. However, some users feel that the Google Pixel 4a was a better option. The phone has an aluminum frame that is waterproof, which is a great feature. The matte aluminum frame provides a comfortable grip and the plastic back has a glass-like feel, making it durable and resistant to cracks. The display is sharp enough, but it may lack a bit of punch. The screen is made of low-grade Gorilla Glass, so a screen protector is recommended. However, touch accuracy, responsiveness, and haptic feedback are all fine.

Battery and charging are decent, but for light users, battery life should not be a problem. The battery capacity is not great, and the charge rate is not impressive, but it is sufficient. The camera on the 6A does not have telephoto and is a two-lens camera. However, it has excellent image processing from Google that makes the most out of the cameras on the device. Clarity, detail, sharpness, and exposure control are all brilliant when taking photos. Video is also excellent. The camera proves exceptional photos thanks to its AI capability, even though it uses an older sensor from the Pixel 2-5. Performance is snappy, and with Android 12, the phone runs smoothly.

The size of the 6A is manageable, but for some people, the phone may be too big for everyday pocket use. The storage is limited, with only 15GB available, including email storage if you use Gmail. Usability is decent, but there is no back button, which can be a learning curve for some. The phone comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, but it does not include a plug adapter to plug into the mains.

It boasts a bright and vivid 6.1" OLED display with perfect contrast, even though it only has a 60Hz refresh rate. The phone's refresh rate of 60MHz is not ideal for fast-moving video games, but this is not an issue for most users. The fingerprint sensor is awful and only works about 50% of the time. There is no face ID or other alternative, and the swipe from edge to go back feature is easy to accidentally trigger.

The sound quality on the 6A is not as good as the Pixel 3a, but this can be fixed by downloading an equalizer app. They are loud and have a good bass response, making it a great phone for listening to music. The vibration motor is also noteworthy, as it is one of the best available on an Android phone and is almost as good as an iPhone.

Another advantage of the Pixel 6a is its software. As a Pixel phone, it is guaranteed to receive day-one updates for years to come. Android 12 is a pleasure to use and the Android 13 beta is even better.

The biggest issue with the Pixel 6a, however, is its unreliable fingerprint reader. The user had trouble registering their fingerprint and unlocking the phone, even after trying multiple times and updating the phone software. The sensitivity of the reader was also set to maximum, but the problem still persisted.

The user mentions reading reviews about this issue and thought it was only a problem for a minority of users. However, after experiencing it themselves, they can confirm that it is a widespread problem. They suggest that the phone's manufacturer should have placed the fingerprint reader in a button, similar to the one in their previous Motorola smartphone, which worked flawlessly.

Lastly, the phone tends to get warm easily during charging. Overall, the Google Pixel 6A is a decent smartphone that offers good value for its price, but it does have some drawbacks that may not make it suitable for everyone. The imminent release of the Pixel 7 may also have an impact on its popularity.
