Flipping a penny for heads or tails can be dangerous

There are many sayings about pennies

When I was growing up there were sayings regarding pennies such as: "Find a penny pick it up and all the day you'll have good luck", " That cost a pretty penny," "So and so keeps showing up like a bad penny", "A penny saved is a penny earned," and "A penny for your thoughts." People would also flip a penny and choose heads or tails to solve an issue.

Now there is something new that children are doing with the copper coin that has recently been discontinued, which could potentially become quite dangerous.

The young people ask a question, then flip a penny. If it lands on heads, the answer to the question is yes. When my two youngest grandchildren were five and six, they said they flipped a penny and asked if my deceased mother was in the house, and the penny landed on heads.

I explained to them that my mother had been in heaven since 2003 and was not communicating with them. I told them that by playing this game, they could open a door for an evil spirit to impersonate my mom or someone else and cause them harm.

This seemed to frighten them, and they agreed to stop. I explained the situation to their mom, my daughter, and she said she would talk to them.

Childhood curiosity

It's normal for children to be curious about the supernatural and play games, but it can cause a lot of harm. There used to be two television shows on the air, titled The Haunted, and Hauntings. In both, there were reenactments of stories that had been told about supernatural encounters.

In many of the situations that were depicted, people use Ouija boards or something similar as a means of summoning spirits. In every case, the individuals involved ended up calling priests for exorcisms or having someone else bless their house and or cleanse it.

When I was a teen, my cousins and I decided to talk to a dead man who had lived in our community. We were working for the summer at the local elementary school and eating lunch in the old library that was in the basement.

We began calling for this man, and suddenly we heard a crash from the back of the room, where there were only books. All of us were accounted for and sitting together. We ran out screaming, and being Christian, we called on Jesus. I repented and asked forgiveness, and for several days I was so shaken.

I have an older cousin who said when she was a teen that she and her friends tried to communicate with a young boy from her neighborhood who died after being hit by a car. They lit a candle and began chanting, and the candle went out without any wind. They jumped up and ran away screaming, never to try a seance again.

YouTube can be dangerous for children

My grandchildren said they saw the heads or tails game on YouTube, which has some wonderful videos to help children learn about many things, but it can also be dangerous.

It opens the door for unsupervised boys and girls to be indoctrinated with things that you may not approve of. The spirit realm is very real, and once portals are opened, you may not be able to close them. If things go too far, there is also the chance of demonic oppression or possession. What may seem like a harmless game could turn into something that might traumatize your child for life.

This is why parents need to monitor what is going on with their children whenever possible. My grandchildren have filters on their computers so that they can only access age-appropriate videos, but they have no way of knowing the subject matter of other children who may have been exposed to dark practices.

If you find your children or grandchildren playing with pennies, you might want to check out what they are actually doing because it might not be so innocent. My grandchildren had been watching other children on YouTube playing games where ghosts were involved, and they began jumping at every shadow and seeing things that were not there.

Reflections in the window and the way the lighting fell on objects made them apprehensive, for a while. Thankfully, they are now responsible teenagers. Consider this as you monitor what the children in your life are doing.
