Attention everyone. Today we have made a huge discovery. Please brace yourself for what will you have to witness.

On monday, 14 september 2015 before 11 am UK time, our planet very briefly disoriented. A subtle wave rippling through space itself washed over and through Earth, very slightly stretching and then compressing the atmosphere, the oceans, the continents and living things.

Earth had experienced a gravitational wave. For the first time, in history scientist detected the event.

Ever since Einstein, scientists have come to think of time and space as combining to form a single entity that they call space-time. Somwhere this gravitational wave rippling through this space-time. Some physicists compare these waves to the ripples on a milipond after someone has thrown in a stone.

In the space, It is when two black hole collide that some of the largest gravitational waves should be generated. Such collision happened 1.4 billion light years away from earth. The event has been detected in September 2015.

They were strecthed and compressed space time: the distance beetween two fixed points expanded and then contracted as each wave washed over them. The further the wave travel. It become weaker. They warped space-time not by centimetre or even milimetre, but by distances on a smaller than a size of individual atoms.

It tooks a decade for scientist to detect the event of gravitational waves. They needed to built a laser that sensitive enough to detect the tiny distortions in space-time that occur when these very weak waves wash across the Earth.

The detectors that finally proved up to the job are called the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) instruments. There are two of them-one in the US state of Louisiana and one 3,000 kilometres to northwest in Washington state. Because gravitational waves are theorized to travel at the speed light, it should take about 10 miliseconds for a wave to travel between the two observatories.

The success is big deal. Not only gravitational waves provide but more confirmation of Einstein's ideas about the nature of space and time, they offered a brand new study for the future of the Universe. Gravitational tools give a scientist a new tools for measuring how fast the Universe is expanding.

Some scientist think the Universe expanded at a phenomenal rate within the first second of the Big Bang. An idea called cosmic inflation. Evidence of this inflation is found in the uniform appearance of the cosmic microwave background (CMB), the faint afterglow left by the Big Bang.

Cosmic inflation should also have generated powerful gravitational waves and- extraodinary as it may seem- the remnants of those primordial gravitational waves should still be out there in the CMB, just waiting to be measured.

But now with LIGO detectors could succeed where previous experiments have failed. A little background about LIGO. LIGO was built to test a component by Einstein. One of the famous, the relativity theory. Starting in 1968, Kip Thorne initiated theoritical efforts on gravitational waves and their sorces at CALTECH.

That is all for today. I hope you guys are enjoying my writing as well you like science. If any grammar that I have miss just drop a comment below and I promise I will become better. Few words of advice and suggestion would be good.
