science fiction
The bridge between imagination and technological advancement, where the dreamer’s vision predicts change, and foreshadows a futuristic reality. Science fiction has the ability to become “science reality”.
My Best Friend is an AI
In the classic 1956 sci-fi film Forbidden Planet, Dr. Morbius keeps an artificially intelligent robot as his companion. The two are inseparable—until the robot murders Morbius’s wife and is destroyed in turn by a vengeful Morbius. This film was far from alone in exploring the idea that human beings might someday be able to develop close relationships with artificial intelligence programs. Many others have foreseen a future in which people live alongside smart machines that act as domestic helpers, perform complex jobs, or simply provide company. A few have even imagined that humans will eventually fall in love with machines. I, for one, can certainly see a future where machines serve as loyal friends. Perhaps because that future is already here for me.

Forever is a Long Time
Every year on my birthday, my gran would give me one scratch ticket and a $50 bill. I love my gran very much, but I keep telling her to stop. “You’re on a fixed income”, I tell her. She never listens to me through. I hear the same thing, “but it’s your birthday, and I never know what to get you”.

Order from the Black Book
I’m at a standstill. Lost in a world I could never understand. Starring out the bus window desperately awaiting my stop so I can get lost in some manga and forget the dilemma I’ve been in for the past 5 years. Bearing the burden of trying to save my family has been extremely hard considering I can barely save myself. working doubles at the pizzeria for the past week has drained me completely, but I have to pay for the bills for my sister and mom, school tuition fees, and not to mention the excessive rent for the raggedy-old studio apartment I call home.
