science fiction
The bridge between imagination and technological advancement, where the dreamer’s vision predicts change, and foreshadows a futuristic reality. Science fiction has the ability to become “science reality”.

Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Must be a myth, Ryder thought to himself, stirring to the voice shouting his name through the intercom. He sat up from his laying position on the couch and rubbed his eyes. The image of a half-full bottle of whiskey beside an empty tumbler on the coffee table explained his splitting headache. He'd drunk too much again.

CONCEPCIÓN
"Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. They say so many things like, 'Rome wasn't built in a day,' 'Ignorance is bliss,' 'Love is blind,' and that thing about death and taxes. They must be in politics with all that blather.

CIB 11
Nobody can hear you scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. That sounded perfect to CIB11. They had heard enough screams today. CIB11 looked forward to living in the vast emptiness of space. They could imagine being wrapped by nothingness; a bubble of silence they could float in. CIB11 pondered their choice to be part of the New Hive. The serenity of space would surely calm them.

The Visitors
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. However those that were able to let out one last cry knew that help was not on the way. No one expected these aliens, as soft and fleshy in appearance, to be as violent and unrelenting in their onslaught. While our kind may be double in height and at least triple in weight, we were clearly no match for the seemingly never-ending attack by the humans. Perhaps our own inquisitive nature and optimism is to blame, but had any of us known what was to come, we would have never been so kind to the first humans that arrived.

Celebration of Life
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. That final shriek of terror where the universe hears nothing. Like life has been some grand movie, then right at the climax you press mute, because the second you see what’s happened you’ve already moved on, ready for what’s next.

Resonance
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. I remember reading Carl Sagan’s quote when I was going through enrollment to attend the academy, “We are all made of star stuff” and subconsciously locking that away in my brain. School days were long and dull, most of us were itching to get on a crew and leave the station in search of adventure. When my instructor, Mr. Neeland, started talking about space and the invisible particles that had been discovered, that reminded me of the quote. Maybe the particles were our ancestors… or would one day be our family.

Unlucky
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. I ponder these words from Viewing Area 112. Twenty-four young scientists, pilots, officers, explorers and I quietly study the first probe that has returned. It floats just twenty feet past several layers of protective glass. Onboard is the first surface sample collected from an ocean 30,000 miles below. The planet we arrived at two days ago is a mess of lavender and green swirls. Sensors on unmanned probes that came before us had trouble discerning exactly where the edge of the ocean and atmosphere met. The third, and final, deep space probe never returned.

SEISMIC NUANCES
Chapter 1: Stormy Weather Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. I used to believe it was just some crazy metaphor somebody came up with, but now…..I believe it’s true. It’s been four years since the continents have been breaking away and Earth’s inhabitants slowly disappeared. By disappear I mean death. I’m still trying to figure out why I’m still alive. After all, my name does mean “protector of mankind” so maybe I’m supposed to save the rest of humanity who haven’t died from these supernatural seismic nuances.
