The Pick Up
This story is my homage to the Netflix series Black Mirror. If you haven’t seen it yet, let me take a minute to warn you: It will change the way you think about everything. It’s a fantastic look at the possibilities and issues in the near future. From the surreal devotion to our social media standing, so much that it drives you crazy, to killer cyber-bees used to target internet bullies. If you enjoy this, you should definitely check out the show.

Mesozoic
MESOZOIC Book 1 of 3 Written by Dan Black Prelude: Intrusion Quiet. That’s the first thing they noticed about this new world. It was quiet. They came from a different world where it was alive. Not that this world was not. It was alive. From the sounds of the trees groaning in the wind and the insects buzzing as they tried to steal a meal from these warm-blooded intruders, the world was very much alive. Even through the darkness of the night. But the intruders were used to the sounds of city traffic and horns blaring. The sights of millions of lights all around them on a consistent basis. This place. This world was not alive by any means to them. It was quiet.

Quietude of Soul
Entry I: Where Has The World Gone? In quietude of soul, the demon lies. Fallen angel of destiny. With knowledge of fate yet fighting. The demon is fighting. Where have you all gone? It is written that you ought to stay, at least for a while. Perhaps I read too much. A cocktail of good and evil inebriates the world. Quite the solution, quite the mix. Why are your eyes red? Why are your eyes red? I have allergies, bitch. Why is your back slouched? Why is your back slouched? I’ve got to hide my chest, why do you think? What are we? A generation of bitchfilth, smeared in an abyss of bitchfilthy glass. Where has the world gone, but to recruit me? The Saul, the king you claim to need. The little fuck falling on his sword while his son falls on his too. The Nathan telling Adonijah he’s not the king. The dirt underneath the altar to which he clung in vain for life.

NEERS
NEERS “I don't wanna hear 'em whine about jail, they're buyin’ n’ selling advanced tech contraband. It’s a safety law!” The man on the satellite radio laughed, his voice echoed in the concrete garage crammed with various metal apparatus. “One accidental chemical exposure, gene splice combo, or free-thinking robot and BOOM; S I N-gularity folks! The tech ban is the best ban!” The man quoted the Gov slogan, alongside murmurs of his co-hosts agreement.

The Human Itch
Stan scratched at the red mark on his skin. It was one of many small scabs that had been bothering him for a few days now. A minuscule, amber crusted sore that bordered his left thumbnail. Carefully, he picked, picked, picked at it. Getting a fingernail beneath it, so it would peel off, sending a small shock of pleasurable pain.
