Celebrating the fantastical. Let your imagination run wild.

There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. They had come down from Mount Cameroon around the same time the land of New Benin was founded. Staying close to their original home, they settled in the part of New Benin that is now called Moto. The Fako Dragons rarely ventured out past Moto borders even within New Benin. The volcano would always be a sacred place for them and the people of Moto. These dragons were originally summoned by the high priestess, Adesina Baton, who used their magic to help the Baton family destroy the armies of the Western powers. Thus began the special relationship between the dragons and the Baton family, who have ruled Moto since its founding. The dragons had always bonded more strongly to one member of the family in each generation. These days they were still strongly bonded to Adesina’s great-great-grandson, Dragoni Baton, the current King of Moto. Now, almost two hundred years after she helped found the utopian paradise of New Benin, peace and prosperity were finally spreading to the rest of the continent of Africa. The seeds that were planted with her generation were sprouting up through the land, feeling their first rays of sunshine. The Festival of Peace planned for that evening was intended to celebrate the beginning of this New Era. The Era of Peace.

Becoming a dragon queen
There weren't always dragons in the valley.... But then again, life is weird enough. With the discovery of dragons, there was also a mass influx of medical alterations that many people can perform on themselves, but I explain those later.

Dragon on the USS Valley
[There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Which raises the question why the hell would there be? After all the U.S.S. Valley NCC-99130 is a back water underrated starship that isn’t even commissioned to be able to fight our own battles as a rule. Heck the only weapons we have are defensive in nature and of course our personal weapons.

RETURN TO PARAGON
RETURN TO PARAGON By Sally Champlin [email protected] CHAPTER ONE IN THE BEGINNING “There weren’t always dragons in the Valley,” his grandfather told him when they went hunting that day. Fascinated, the boy asked him, “What do dragons look like, grandpa?” His grandfather smiled and thought a bit. Then he said, “You’ll know them when you see them.”

Review of 'Outer Range' 1.1-2
The hybrid of science fiction/fantasy with the western (contemporary or historical) genre has long been sought after, touted as a natural, powerful combination for a television series, for as far back as I can remember. But it's seldom been realized, and off the top of my head, I can't think of a single successful example. Last year's Invasion on Apple TV+ took a shot with a lead-off episode out West, with no less an actor than Sam Neill in the lead -- but it was the weakest episode segment in an otherwise top-notch series. My wife suggested Westworld as an example that achieved the elusive goal, and yes, it did, but only partially, because the heart of its narrative was not western.

What if I write a fantasy series in public?
The sci-fi series Foundation inspired Elon Musk to launch SpaceX. Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea inspired Simon Lake to invent the submarine. Verne’s Clipper of the Clouds inspired Igor Sikorsky to invent the helicopter. Mary Shelley’s use of electricity to rouse Frankenstein’s monster inspired the invention of the defibrillator.

She Told Me About Her Planet
“You know Maryland is a nut,” Tom said, smile playing across his lips. His red hair and ruddy complexion made his whole face light up. I shook my head. “She tells you some crazy stories, sometimes,” he continued. “All the time.”
