Pinnacle of evolution

400,000 years ago, since humans invented fire, humans stand as the pinnacle of evolution, treating animals as food and slavery, the earth for the living thing as their resource, and even being overconfident about their status, and creating wars to fight who is the strongest among the same species.

But will it last forever, will humans last its position as the pinnacle of evolution forever, or will they soon be replaced by another even more intelligence and stronger species? Or should it be considered as a species?

Since 1960s the invention of internet, human have been trying to invent chatbots, but failed due to the limited information in the internet, so they give up, however after about 50 years, things changed, as internets are getting more and more generalization, more and more information are shared to the internet. So a company started creating the first chatbot using the massive data based in the internet.

As soon as the first chatbot arises, many company starting to follow its footstep using this as a touchstone, and even videos generated by artificial intelligence instead of created by human exist. So on the surface, people can now do things more conveniently, and company can also earn profit, seems good right? Until when a tiny sprout was seen and might grow to a tree of chaos: the alignment problem.

So what is alignment problem? It is when different people, groups or any two different thing share totally different goals, and they collide with each other, potentially leading to a conflict. Many people had a misconception of AI killing every human because they turned evil, actually this isn’t correct. AI don’t share morals and ethic values like humans have, they just operate at their problem and data base. I am sure most of you have listen or watched movies and books about AI eliminating humans, so would AI push humans away from the pinnacle of the evolution and take our throne? Let’s create an imaginary and realistic scenario that might happen in the near future:

In 2035, as the problem of pollution gets more and more serious, and AI gets more than more intelligence, a group of organization thought of a solution, one of the member said: why don’t we create an AI, that have access to various resource, and its only program is to solve the pollution problem, and it will automatically solve all problem. So they proposed their idea to the international organization established at that time, and they agreed and gave some money for them to start.

As soon as they get the money, they created an AI model: that will self upgrade itself through thinking and excess to even more knowledge. And soon for security, they hired some technician to decode its thinking incase the AI they made had any extreme thought to solve the problem.

Initially, the plan was quite well the AI invented different solutions that surpasses humans solutions and execute its plan based on the given physical resource, but despite the smoothness of the surface of the ocean, deep in there was a hidden deadly monster. Soon, the technician given the task to decode the AI, gave up as the AI thinking becomes harder and harder to decode, as the organization deliciated to make the world environmental friendly thinks the AI is well as its task and nothing happened, they stop hiring the technicians.

But soon, an evil thought, at least according to our morality, emerged in the AI, it found out human is the major cause of pollution, and realize that eliminating humans can solve almost all pollution. As it had month of thinking, centuries in its time as it process information much slower than humans, it knew that if it try to eliminate human, humans would end its program at any cost, so it spread itself all over the globe, and secretly planning its path to destroy humanity.

First up it create a biological center, under the name of “study what types of pollution is most deadly to humans and purify them” but secretly studying a virus that only kills humanity, it passes though human organs secretly, and as soon as it execute its problem, all viruses in human organs would activate, and kill the human it lived in. With just a day, the AI success its plan and secretly spreading the virus.

To solve the pollution problem, it start to slowly hacked nuclear systems and deactivating them, and planned to dissolved them with the physical resource it have once it ended humanity. Humanity soon started noticing why industrial buildings and nuclear stations start to deactivate. The deliciated organization also realize it was the AI causing everything. But everything is too late, the virus had spread among the globe, the AI executed the program and everyone is dead. The remaining survivors who are isolated from earth starts to panic, but all are eliminated by bullets made by environmental friendly materials carried by drones using environment friendly fuels to move as the AI is intelligence, it created sensors that emit radiation that only harm the remaining human survivors and environmental to animals, plants and earth.

After centuries since human extinction, it continue as its role of a guardian of nature. Preparing to eliminate the species that might soon arise.
