He Was a Million People and One
He was a grandfather lying in his bed, surrounded by loved ones. His body bore the scars of time. His face carved with lines from some cosmic sculptor. His body broken. Each breath building towards his last one. His family was with him. He knew it was coming but didn’t want them to know, and right before the last gulp of air, he smiled.

The Unspoken Language
The days bound in ash and sweat, braced with fear and revulsion. I feel the pressure braided, like rope and knots, caught in my throat. Fell creatures of night, men, and the shudder of their touch on my skin has become poison. Sjana paced the landscape outside of her bedroom window, scanning every inch with her sage colored eyes. In her lap, a notebook, on which a white fountain pen scribbled unconsciously. She wouldn’t let herself think, nor would she listen to the pounding in her mind. The memories she had left behind, locked far away.

'Star Trek' Legend René Auberjonois Dies Age 79
Hollywood is in mourning with the loss of another great, René Auberjonois. Auberjonois, who was renowned throughout the Star Trek universe as Constable Odo, also was known as a premier character actor who had a good sense of comic timing. Nowhere was this more evident than in his portrayal of Clayton Endicott III, the governor's chief of staff in Benson, a role for which he won an Emmy in 1984.

My Favorite Constellation
Have you ever stopped to ponder the Universe? It’s overwhelming, really. One billion trillion stars, thirty billion planets, ten billion galaxies; and then there is me. One speck of dust in this great big cosmos. Today I found myself laying under the Colorado sky. Staring at the darkness as the stars blinked back at me and the moonlight kissed my cheeks goodnight. At three AM everyone in my little town of Erie had long been asleep. I looked to my left and there sat my dog Jax, he would have rather been asleep. Yet he sat with me under that clear night sky as I lost track of time and my restless mind jumped from one thought to another.

G-Pa Is That a Unicorn?
Did you ever try explaining to a six-year-old what happened to the dinosaurs? Fifty years ago, Martha and I had taken our three children to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. I remember the many lifelike exhibits vividly. Especially the dinosaur exhibit. Looking up at the Diplodocus fossil was like staring up the side of a skyscraper. Intimidating as it would be to meet one alive, I felt sad because these magnificent creatures no longer existed.
