Happy "New" Year?

The Future Is Here-

I'm not going to lie, I didn't think I would see 2025 in my lifetime, it seemed like such a landmark year but now that it's here, I feel very underwhelmed.

Where are the flying cars, Fifth Element!? Self-driving cars are barely making a debut, let alone flying cars!

Where's the time machine, Back to the Future!?

Where's my ALIEN friend, ET!?

I should at least have a robot BFF by now catering to my every whim. I definitely need a glam team- hair, makeup, mani/pedi robot in my life! And a chef/nutritionist robot making all my meals, meal prep and cleaning up after itself. Basically, we are the aliens and our phones are smarter than us (laugh out loud) Seriously, UFO's have been hidden by the U.S. govt., but we have yet to meet the aliens!

Social Media Exhaustion-

I have conscientiously decided to take a break from social media, mainly Instagram. I wasn't a huge Tik-Toker but I refuse to let social media dictate every moment of my waking life! This year, 2024, I used Instagram a lot to follow Healers and Spiritual Guides, Trauma-informed Coaches et... I'm growing up and practicing mindfulness means being aware and present to moments happening all around you, not fabricating moments to make reels all the time. It not only feels like a full-time job but it takes you out of the moment and I intentionally try to avoid that.

I'm looking forward to innovation in 2025. Let's see what all these AI trained models have accomplished. I still haven't used ChatGPT! I applaud SAG- the Union I'm apart of, for striking against AI taking actors jobs. Ethical AI needs to be a thing just like everything else, so I appreciate the prompts where we get to choose whether we want to be responded to by AI or a human.

Humans... We have a problem! We have to learn how to get over ourselves and each other when it stands in the way, or, halts progress! And I mean "we," as Americans... Why has it taken a year to decide on buying or banning TikTok? TKTK has been life-changing for so many new on the market products and brands, not to mention, personalities and "influencers." It's such an eco-system as is and as of 3 days ago, Trump is opposing its ban and asking the Supreme Court to pause the ban on TKTK until he can negotiate the outcome that works for us, here in the U.S. Also, why is everything so goddamn political!?!

Is Humanity Progressing?

Can we humans actually get over ourselves and each other for the sake of innovation and progress? Elon Musk has and wants more H-1B Visa immigrants employed in his American companies and Trump wants Americans working in American only jobs. MAGA is for mass deportation so immigrant worker visas aren't "it" for them. "Taking jobs away from Americans," seems like such a limited pov. I've noticed that Portuguese and French/Creole has been added to the bi-lingual languages in FL, for employment in addition to Spanish... That's called acclimation and facilitation if you ask me! Elon is the richest immigrant in America, isn't he? While we're on the topic, the Right needs to leave the news media alone! I have enjoyed every debate, every podcast, every opinion since July and I'm all for our voices being heard. Let's face it, Trump and Musk's "co-presidency" is a very fragile-ego one. If they aren't controlling "free-speech," their feelings are being hurt. I digress...

I love the sustainable fashion movement as well but it's still not as mainstream as it should be. I heard that California will be requiring textile and apparel companies to accept unwanted items with the purpose of recycling them or reusing them. I absolutely love thrifting in California, it is one of my favorite things to do there! Second Street, Crossroads, Wasteland, Jet Rag, American Vintage, my favorite stores, I miss them all! One day, I will design and dress myself in my own gear! I'm so over my closet right now, spring cleaning might come early for me this year.

My 2025 Outlook-

I'm looking forward to learning more sustainability practices in 2025, particularly when it comes to solar energy and agro-tourism. I'm happy to announce that my family's property in the Caribbean, will be expanding in 2025 and I'm looking forward to creating content while I'm there! Eco-tourism is so hot right now, it really is the 'yang' to the super tech y 'ying' here in America.

I would like to start writing my book, I may have already started but I don't remember when I did, so I'll have to be more intentional about it. It will be about the biggest lesson of my life, while I'm learning it. Very tough to do but I appreciate being able to look at things objectively in my writing.

Auld Lang Syne-

I wish and hope that everyone I called a friend in 2024 are doing well. I don't take meaningful connections lightly and many people have been there for me at my worst this past year. Those are the real ones, who held space for my healing in the most gracious of ways. Reciprocity was a huge theme for me at the end of 2023 and it definitely paid off in 2024.

I want to hit the ground running this January 2025 because I have a lot to do by mid-February, before I can even entertain traveling anywhere and if you know anything about me, I would travel every other month if I could! If it weren't for the reduced life-expectancy of flight attendants and the super low pay, I would be in the sky right now! I hope to do an update at the end of January (I wonder if it will feel like a super long month, per usual) with everything I checked off my list of things to do!

Happy New Year to Everyone! I have the beginnings of what would be a cold of some kind (I will refrain from using the C word) I relinquish all C word trauma in 2025 because let's face it, who knows what could happen next! I'm definitely ready to WFH!

Finally, I wanted to say that we survived the pandemic in the most brilliant and resilient of ways. So if you're still here, expanding your mind, your self-awareness, your empathy and compassion, tapping in with Source and illuminating with love, keep on growing!!! What doesn't kill us, really does make us stronger. I hope to keep up this optimism for as long as possible, so I'm counting on you 2025 while also being open to accepting any blessings in disguise coming my way.
