A Proud Cancer

Getting to know a real Cancer!

By Rain DayzePublished 5 years ago 3 min read
Star crab being all shiny.

The first thing to know about me, a true and proud Cancer zodiac sign is that my birthday falls between June 21st-July 22nd. It is the 4th astrological sign overall, associated with the color white, with a strong affinity for water and is represented by the crab. Those are just the basics, now onto the fun stuff! Cancers have a connection to all things mystical, such as the moon, the tides, and of course complex emotions. These also include intelligence, kindness and even crabbiness.

We Cancers are also know to be very nurturing in nature, highly intuitive, as well as sensitivity and sometimes insecurity, unfortunately. I, just like my sign, represent all of these things. I am deeply insecure, kind, intuitive, and have strong feelings of nurturing even when they are not reciprocated properly. My heart is worn on my sleeves for all to see, but there are also a range of other emotions going on inside. Sometimes this variety can make it seem like I am overly sentimental or moody; when really it has to do with the various phases of the moon. We are primarily introvertive by nature, so we like to retreat into our "shells" just like crabs do. We like to be at home and surrounded by those who love and support us in deep and intimate connections as opposed to socializing with strangers that can at times overwhelm our delicate sensibilities. Being able to socialize with lots of different people is a skill I, specifically, am not good at.

Loyalty is our strong point! While we dislike small talk and are difficult to get to know, once we break free of our safe zone and put ourselves out there, we are the most loyal friend, lover, family member that you will ever find. We are also protective of those we care about, passionate about intimacy with those we lust after, and deeply care about others in ways that are impossible to explain. All of these are great traits. Unfortunately, there is always bad ones that follow quickly afterwards. Being overly sensitive is a double-edged sword for sure. While it allows us to feel other people's pain, sympathize, empathize and get enjoyment out of sensory situations like calming rain and raging storms, we can also be enraged easily, our moods really do change every day, sometimes multiple times!

There are times where we can be petty and vindictive, as it is in our nature to want things a certain way, our way, all the time. Manipulation is never off the board for us as sometimes we will use kindness and selflessness to achieve whatever goal we want to be done, by any means necessary if it comes down to it. If this doesn't work out, we are prepared to retaliate at anyone who or whatever is causing us to suffer. Be wary of the angry crabs we do have claws! But please do not be afraid. We are good people with flaws the same as anyone, as long as you are willing to look past all of them and come to understand us as the amazing individuals that we are then everything will be perfect.

On a final note, be kind to us. We will do everything in our power to make sure that everyone is happy and well taken care of as long as our feelings are not disregarded. In return we will treat you the same. With kindness, dignity and respect as is expected of any decent human being living on this big blue/green marble we call home. After all, life is too short for grudges and strife to continue. Thank you for your time.
