What a day. I still cannot believe this happened to me today. Who would want to hurt me? I don’t understand any of this.

‘All of these thoughts kept popping into my mind and I have to stop them.’ I said quietly to myself.

When we get to the hotel, I left Doug and Kadon in the living room to talk and I went into the bedroom of the new suite Doug had changed for me. He really thinks of everything.

I was running myself a hot bubble bath and lighting my aroma therapy candles around the tub when I heard Doug leave and Kadon turn on the TV in the living room area.

That changed my thoughts from more intriguing thoughts. Kadon. He was a very good-looking man. Maybe a little overbearing. He seemed to be observant and good at his job. I hope he is the best in his field. I need to find out his background. I know Doug wouldn’t hire just anyone. But I would feel better if I knew more about him. I think I will have that conversation with him tonight before I go to bed. Maybe that will help me to ease my mind and get some sleep.

I was still in the tub when I heard a knock on the door. I jumped straight up out the tub. I didn’t even realize how scared I was of who could have been at the door. I calmed down when I heard Kadon’s calm voice.

“Hey Bryan. Come on in,” Kadon said.

“Hey Man! Nice digs they have you in!” Bryan replied with a giggle.

“Well, it’s her penthouse! I just have a room and you have a couch!” Kadon laughed!

“Well thank you Sir!” Bryan laughed.

“Thanks for stopping at my house and grabbing my go bag! I will go get more stuff in a few days. For tonight I think she will be safe with just one of us here. This is not the suite she originally had. It was a last-minute change. I am taking that as an advantage for us tonight. If she comes out in the next thirty minutes or so, then you should meet her tonight. If not, I will need you here at 0400. Her driver while she is in town is Lt. Jason Cooper, Retired US Army Special Forces and is defensive driving trained. He will need an earpiece and radio. He will be assisting so we will not have to add another member of the company to drive,” Kadon said now in a serious tone.

“Okay, that will be good so we don’t have to pull one of the guys off their assignments and move around one of the staff to take their positions. I know this is highest profile so we would have to do some movements in priorities to see who would be the least we could switch around. Having him already trained and in place is a great help,” Bryan replied.

“Yes, it is, but you know me. Have Carol run a complete background check on him, and her manager Doug Rogers. I know they are probably both clean, but I don’t want any stone unturned. As we meet people, that list will grow. Also, have her coordinate with Lieutenant Grimes at the police department. He has my cell to reach me but have her get copies the police reports including witness statements from everyone, including myself. Have her start an electronic file for me and start sending everything to my iPad. Bring your go bag tomorrow just in case I need you to stay. Oh, Ms. Lane has an assistant that I saw with her today. We need to find out her name. I want a full report on her as well,” Kadon spilled out orders to Bryan.

As they were talking, I had gotten out of the tub and gotten dressed in my nightgown and robe. I opened my door just as Bryan was saying, “Okay, I will have her get on that and if you think of anything else before 0400 call me. If not, I will see you in the morning.”

“Sorry, I hope I am not interrupting,” I said as I opened my room door and walked into the living room area.

“No, Tally, you are just in time actually,” Kadon replied. “I want you to meet one of my partners in the Seals and Bounty Security Firm, Bryan Shaw. He will be assisting with your detail along with your current driver Jason Cooper. We are all former military, including Jason. Bryan will be with you and I wherever you go. He may be on the couch a few nights a week and if I need to leave for any reason, he will stay with you. When I am not here, he is in charge,” Kadon said.

I wasn’t sure if I could speak or not. I could feel his dominance for the first time and all of a sudden, I was turned on. I guess Bryan caught on to my dilemma on some level because he broke my silence and said with somewhat of a serious tone and somewhat of a laugh, “Ms. Lane, it is a pleasure to meet you and don’t worry about Kadon, his bark is a lot rougher than his bite, at least to beautiful women!”

“Thanks Bryan! It is a pleasure to meet you too. And please call me Tally. As for Kadon, is he always so dominant, or is that just for work?” I asked, but as soon as it came out of my mouth, I regretted it. How could I have let that out of my mouth? That was inappropriate and not the right time.

They both looked from me to each other with a look that I wasn’t too sure I understood. Then Bryan shrugged his shoulders and walks towards the door.

“Well guys, I think that is my queue to say goodnight. I will see you both at 0400,” Bryan said.

“Thanks again B for stopping at my place. See you in the morning,” Kadon replied in a monotone voice. Seemed he had stopped barking orders, maybe I had misread him.

I didn’t realize I was still frozen in place until Kadon turned to me and said, “Tally, is there anything else you would like to ask me? If not, I am going to take a shower.”

“Oh, I, um, no. I am going to just go to bed,” I replied with a shaky embarrassed voice. I feel like such an idiot. Not every strong authoritative man is a dominant. I can’t believe I just asked that question. At least he didn’t seem to catch it or it didn’t seem to bother him.

“Okay then. If you need anything, just knock on the door and if not, I will see you in the morning,” Kadon replied as he grabbed his bag from beside the couch and went into his room.

Still standing there like a statue, I shook my arms and legs around to get myself together, walked over to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of water and headed into my room. Now I just needed to sleep, but how? The two things on my mind were the two things that I shouldn’t be thinking about, the shooting and Kadon.
