Seals and Bounty: The Bodyguard
Back at Work - Chapter 9 - Short Story

Wyatt
I really wasn't intending to lie with her until she fell asleep. Worse than that, I must have fallen asleep with her. I woke up with her still in my arms. Every sense in my body was tingling. I wanted to stay like this with her. My mind was telling me I couldn't, but my heart and body said that it wanted to kiss her and make love to her. I can't wait until we have caught this guy. Once this is over, I am going to kiss those beautiful, luscious lips of hers. But for now, I need to get up and go into the living room with the officers. I need to see if there have been any leads and what the security detail is for tonight on their end.
I got up, and she stirred. I waited a minute before opening the door, just to make sure she was not waking up. She never opened her eyes, so I left the room. I checked my phone in my pocket, and it was 2 o'clock p.m. I know she didn't have to be at the casino until 8 o'clock tonight. The first show started at 10 p.m.
I walked into the living room the guys just smiled at me with a smirk like they thought something had happened.
"What are you guys smiling about?" I asked.
"Are we smiling," they both said laughing!
"We are not the ones that have been in the bedroom with Mari for the last two-and-a-half hours!" Officer Jones said.
"It wasn't anything like you guys are thinking. She asked me to sit in there until she fell asleep," I replied, laughing a little because the looks on their faces were funny and a little annoyed.
They all grabbed a sandwich for lunch and set down to discuss the strategy for the night. The officers went through their plan. The three normal night shift guys would be there. Officer Rodriquez would continue to work directly with me. They also added five more undercover guys. Two would sit in the first two rows of each show. Two would work as stagehands, and one would be in the parking deck elevator as the attendant.
I explained that the normal security staff would be in their regular positions, however, my other five partners would also be plain dressed. Two will be stationed in the main lobby, two backstage, one would take my normal routine while I was on Mari's personal security with Officer Rodriquez, and the last one would be stationed at the stage left entrance.
An hour after they finished going over all the security details for the night, I heard her stirring upstairs. I was eager to see her, but more so to hold her in my arms again. I am so ready for this guy to be caught so that I can change my primary focus from being her bodyguard to getting to know her better. I am pretty sure that she feels the connection between us, too. I also believe that she knows I am a Daddy and that I know she is a Little. If she is unsure or doesn't know, then I want to make sure that she understands my position as soon as this is over. I want to protect her every day, not just when she is in danger.
Once this is over, I have to find a way to tell her how I feel about her. Interesting thing is, right now I am still processing how I am feeling. My heart is telling me I am in love with her, and then my mind keeps telling me I really don't know her and there is no way I can have feelings for her other than just wanting to protect her in this situation.
When I saw her walk into the living room, she was stunning. She said hello to everyone, seeming a little embarrassed when our eyes met. However, she has nothing to be embarrassed about if anyone should feel embarrassed, it should be me since I balled her up in my arms and fell asleep with her.
She told them she was going to start dinner and it would be ready in an hour and went into the kitchen and started fixing dinner for everyone. It was now 4:30 p.m. and the food would be ready in about an hour.
I walked into the kitchen and said "Hey, how did you sleep?"
She replied, "I did, and thank you so much for laying with me. I wasn't expecting you to, but it really helped me to relax and feel safe."
"You are more than welcome. I am glad that I could make you feel safe. We will leave around 6:30 p.m. to head to the casino. When will the food be ready?" I asked.
"It should be ready in approximately an hour. That will give everyone an hour to eat and get ready to go," she replied.
"Sounds good. You know, Mari, you don't have to go tonight. No one would be upset if you waited another day or two. We would all understand you are very nervous about it and even scared. Look at how rattled you got today after that telemarketer phone call," I said.
"I know you think I shouldn't go. I also know that you are worried about me. I really appreciate all you have done for me. I also understand that it is not in your job description to come home with the ladies and protect us. You are not getting paid to do this. Doesn't that alone want you to have things get back to normal? For me, I just want normalcy. It's not that I am not scared, I just don't want this guy to win. I don't want him to take away the normalcy I have in my life and make me be a hermit in my home," she responded.
"I understand how you can feel that way, and if you went back to work, then my firm and the police will do everything we can to protect you. As far as me getting paid, I don't care about that. All I care about is that you are safe. I will protect you at all costs." I stated.
I felt her turn to look at me when I finished talking, but I just continued to walk out of the room. I really care about her. I am just wondering if it is more than a friendship that is blooming here.
After finishing the food, we all ate, and then she headed upstairs to change for the show, and we all got ready to leave by making phone calls and getting the details already there waiting for us.
