Seals and Bounty: The Bodyguard
Dead Air - Chapter 8 - Short Story

Mari
I woke up, restless. I am so ready for my life to go back to normal. I hate feeling like I am a prisoner in my home. I refuse to let this man make me feel like this and to change my entire life around based on what he may or may not do. Why everyone else, especially Wyatt, can't understand that, I don't know.
I wish Wyatt would go back to his house and allow the police to do their jobs. He is making me uncomfortable in my own home. It just the feeling that I get when I know he has caught me showing my Little side. I get so embarrassed, even if he doesn't seem to mind at all. I don't know if he is just being nice and understanding because of the situation and he thinks I am scared to death, or if it is because he is a Daddy. I know he said I am not the first Little that he has met, but what does that actually mean? Does that mean that he is a Daddy or that he met one, but he didn't agree with it or like one? I am so confused when it comes to him. I really just don't like him seeing me like this. What if he goes back to work and starts telling my business?
However, he has made it very clear that he is not going home until we catch this guy. Hopefully, that will be soon. Tonight, however, at least she gets to go back to work and that will help so that she is not cooped up in her all day and night with a bunch of men, especially Wyatt.
I got up and went to shower and get ready to go downstairs. The clock said 6 a.m. After I get ready, I will go downstairs and cook everyone's breakfast. Unless, of course, the guys had already cooked. It is really interesting to have someone else cook for me all the time. They even do the grocery shopping and have it delivered. I guess that was fine since they were all in the living room and dining room all the time, anyway. I had been hiding out most of the days in my bedroom to give them all space.
As I was walking downstairs, I heard all the officers in the kitchen grabbing food. Guess I was too late to cook for them this morning, but I would make it a point to cook dinner tonight before the changeover. If I had nothing in the freezer, I wonder if I could talk Wyatt into going to the grocery store with me?
"Good morning, everyone," I said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning," they all said in unison.
"I see someone cooked breakfast this morning. I am cooking dinner, so if there is anything that any of you don't eat, please let me know now. Wyatt, will you take me to the grocery store later?" I asked.
"I cooked this morning," Officer Rodriquez said, "And you're all welcome! It is was not a problem."
"Didn't we all say thank you!" Officer Jones said.
They all started laughing.
Everyone said they ate anything, so I figured I could do an easy pasta meal. Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo with Texas Toast and a nice Caesar Salad. To verify that was good with everyone, I asked. Everyone said that sounded delicious.
I turned to Wyatt and asked again, "Can you take me to the grocery store?"
"Yes, I can do that. How does about 9:30 a.m. sound?" He asked.
"That sounds good. Thank you," I replied.
We all finished breakfast and at 9:20 a.m. Wyatt and I got ready to leave for the grocery store. As we got into my car, he asked for the keys so he could drive. I didn't argue, I just handed them to him and said thank you. He is really protective and likes to be in charge, from what I can tell. I really like that.
As we shopped for the things I needed, we made small talk as he pushed the buggy around the store. I am really enjoying his company, and I am starting to really like him. Once this is all over, I wonder if we can get to know each other better.
Once back at the house, I expressed my gratitude to him for taking me. He just smiled and said no problem as he was grabbing all the bags out of the car. When I tried to grab one, our hands touched and I look up at him, our eyes met and the intense emotions that I felt from both of us were amazing. I really thought he was going to lean down to kiss me. It was like a moment in time had stopped, and it was just the two of us. But then he didn't. His intense gaze changed, and he grabbed the bag and turned, and walked towards the house. Now I am feeling weird. I don't know what just happened. Did he realize that me being a Little was a problem? I can't wait for all of this to be over. I refuse to have any feelings for him, just to get hurt.
He set the bags on the kitchen table and I put everything away until it was time to start dinner. As I am putting the last item in the refrigerator, the phone rings. I look at the Officers who are telling me to give it one more ring so that they are ready. When they gave me the okay, I picked up the receiver.
"Hello," I said.
No response. Just dead air. "Hello," I said again, shaking. Then, finally, a recording came on about winning a cruise. My heart had stopped beating. My hand was shaking so badly that I hadn't even noticed Wyatt had put his hand over mine on the receiver. I let out a long breath as I hung up the phone. I looked at him like it was just the two of us in the room and asked, "Can you walk me to my room, please?"
He walked me to my room, and I asked, "Can you sit in here until I fall asleep?"
"Of course I can," he replied.
As I go on the bed and turned my back to him to lie down, I felt him when he got on the bed. I thought he was going to sit on the edge, but then he laid down behind me and wrapped his arm around my waist. That was the last thing I remembered as I fell asleep.
