You & Him
Sunrise breaks your sleepy trance as you slightly raise your head from the pillow, then you remember “Him”. You looked around the room for him but it doesn’t seem he stayed for breakfast.. even after the night you guys had. You get up to reach for your phone on the nightstand to find a slip of paper on top with.. his number written on it? You look for a name but there’s not one on the slip so you put his contact name as “Him”. You begin to bite your nail thinking about flashes of last night, and his touch, his groans. If you remembered clearly you were slightly on the drunk side, and knowing that made you think about how wild you might’ve been. You jump out of bed to wash up and maybe stop thinking about Him so much, in a short period of time. You look at yourself to reveal you only had an oversized NASA shirt with no underwear or bra, then nod in acceptance.

I was digging through some boxes in the garage yesterday and came across a flashlight. Cool, I though to myself, I need one of these that works. Not two days prior I had dropped something on the floor in the house. The place where I live is so damn dark it’s like you’re in the Arctic in summertime or the Antarctic in winter or the reverse compliment of those two things, all year round. The point is it’s dark as fuck no matter the time of day. Because it is so dark if you ever drop anything smaller than 3 inches or so it’s basically gone until it gets sucked up by the vacuum cleaner or eaten by a cat and “found” in the litterbox sometime later.

Under The Skin
Sometimes it takes something as simple as a movie to crystallize a position you have always thought about but never really understood. I just watched the Scarlet Johanssen starring movie Under the Skin for the second time. In the picture the alien being portrayed by ScarJo uses her inherent sex appeal and feigned kindness and caring to lure men to their untimely deaths. Not only does she kill clearly misogynistic men but even seemingly “good” men are lead to their ultimate demise. Famously the men shown as being ensnared by the alien were real people who had no idea they were actually part of a movie. The one exception being the grossly disfigured character we are meant to most sympathize with. The movie even suggests we might feel some happiness for him. After all he clearly had never been shown any affection at all from a human female or male for that matter. He even shops at night to avoid the taunts and disgust he is exposed to if he shows himself in daylight. He is killed by the alien like all the others.

We repair to the couch, yet neither one of us starts reaching for our clothing. Perhaps a little naked discussion between the two of us might just do the trick. Lynn is fearless, or mighty crafty because she says she is making us a second night cap and makes sure she saunters her little ass in my full view. Maybe my eyes being glued to her behind has not been as stealthy as I told myself. Her slender torso has just enough womanly curve, but still slender enough where my ultimate goal for the evening is shimmering in the low light, even with Lynn walking straight and proud while adding just enough hip shimmy to attract any predator with two eyes in front.
