Curse of the Moon
D´nai I knew what he was turning into and I wanted him to feel safe. I wrapped my arms around him to let him know he was not alone. ¨You dumbass, don´t touch me!¨ he said ¨Just calm down¨ I told him. He only got bigger with every passing hour. Soon, he was twice my size and a full-on werewolf. ¨You´re not alone Mr. Daveys. I´m here Beau.”

Whores'd'oeuvres
Across many different genres and age groups there should be an emphasis on an author’s voice and word choice. As someone who is very sensitive to the connotations of words, I can say that very little consideration is given to this concept in much of the content I read. While I suffer no delusions about my reading choices and how poor they might be, I don’t believe they need to be written that way. Perhaps most of these authors started out writing pulpy romance with no prior experience hoping to cash in on the feral market that Kindle Unlimited offers. In time I hope many of the authors that enter this space give more consideration to the tone their word choice sets.

The Scarlet Valentine
Valentine’s Day isn’t something that Marcus and I are too fond of celebrating. The restaurants are packed, the menus are limited, and everything is over-priced for a Hallmark holiday. It’s a national competition to prove who loves who more and we just don’t buy into it. However, this year, we’re involved with Kati so you could say I’m actually excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day today.

The Clown: Part 1
The kitchen was dark and I could smell something sticky, I looked down and made out Oscar, my shadowy black cat, eating from a bowl of tuna that was bigger than her. I kept on moving in the dark and saw the glowing rectangle of the bathroom door, and it pulled me in. Before I knew it my hand rested gently on the door, pushing it open slowly to reveal my partner Eric laying on the floor, half propped up against the bathtub. His hands were on his belly and he was crying. “Oh my god,” I gasped as I knelt down to him, “what’s wrong Eric!?”

Movie Review: 'Air Doll' is Bold Strange and Fascinating
The movie Air Doll was originally released in 2009 and it flew completely under my radar. Thankfully, our friends at Dekanalog have rescued this lovely, thoughtful and thoroughly strange melodrama about a blow up sex doll that comes to life. That sounds a little like an inverse take on Lars and the Real Girl and the movies do carry a similar sense of whimsical melancholy. Air Doll is far more absurdist than the sweet Lars but if you liked one you may enjoy the other.

The Ecstasy and the Agony
Author's Note: Within this chapter, the main character, Claire, reads a book of poetry. The poem that she reads in the book is not a poem written by me. Instead, it is written by a fellow Vocal author, Colleen Millsteed. The poem, "She Welcomes the Darkness While Wandering the Destructive Halls of Hell", is used with her express permission. Her creativity deserves the honor of recognition. Thank you, Colleen!

UnEntangled - The Wedding
When she woke up Sunday morning, she jumped in the shower, then headed downstairs into the kitchen to start breakfast. Jamie was still asleep when she had gotten out of the shower, but it was like the smell of the coffee brewing was his alarm clock. As soon as the smell started to fill the house, she heard him get up. She smiled at that thought.
