How August Ame Was Cyberbullied To Death
August Ames expressed her reluctance to collaborate with males who starred in homosexual adult films in a tweet in December 2017. Days later, she would commit suicide and die.

A few days after tweeting that she didn't want to act with male porn stars who also do homosexual porn, adult film star August Ames was discovered dead by herself in December 2017. Her public rejection of hiring "crossover" talent had been attacked with vehement accusations of being homophobic.
Kevin Moore, her husband, was certain that the overwhelming amount of online harassment and stalking that drove Ames to the brink was to blame. His point of view on the situation was made public on Ames' website and referred to as "the truth" in a tweet from her account.

Moore's depiction of what transpired to August Ames has mostly come to be regarded as the reality in the years since her tragic passing. Nevertheless, investigative journalist and author Jon Ronson has found a number of details that were generally ignored in the wake of her death but probably played a part in her suicide.
The Last Days of August, a podcast series by Ronson, is modeled after Serial. What specifically drove a successful 23-year-old porn actress to commit suicide? Was it truly brought on by tweets and a refusal to accept online criticism from strangers? What were the circumstances of her last days like, and what additional problems did she have at this time?
August Ames, who was born Mercedes Grabowski on August 23, 1994, in Antigonish, Canada, appeared in more than 270 pornographic scenes during the course of her four years as an adult film star.
The Adult Video News (AVN) awards nominated Ames for Best New Starlet in 2015. Before she took her own life in 2018, she had even been nominated for Female Performer of the Year. Her career didn't initially appear to have had a role in her suicide, or did it?

Despite her accomplishments, the California resident from Nova Scotia was discovered dead in her house before she could decorate it with a trophy. Asphyxiation by hanging was determined to be the cause of death by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's office.
In a statement, grieving 43-year-old Kevin Moore stated, "She meant the world to me. Many admirers and coworkers expressed their sorrow at August Ames' passing online, calling her “the most kind-hearted person ever” and “a beautiful light.”
But, some of her real friends were blaming her coworkers in the pornographic film industry for her demise.
A few days prior to her passing, August Ames sent out a series of tweets that set the whole thing off.
The Adult Film Industry's Homophobia
On December 3, 2017, August Ames gave notice that "crossover" talent would be working with whoever was taking over her upcoming project, which she supposedly dropped out of. These actors can be seen in both gay and straight porn.
Some people found Ames' remark offensive because it implied that men who engage in gay porn are more prone to contract and spread STDs. In a tweet on December 3rd, she labeled the casual hiring and participation of these performers "BS":

A barrage of irate responses to her tweet accused her of homophobia and discriminating against members of the LGBTQ community. Ames initially explained her viewpoint as a just warning to the actress taking her place, assuring supporters that she had no animosity against homosexuals:

She continued by asserting that most porn actresses avoid working with gay porn actors "for safety" concerns. Despite the fact that all performers had to submit to mandatory STD and STI testing, Ames claimed that she was unwilling to put her body at risk in that way.
Ames was depressed when she passed away, according to her family and friends. Feelings of poor self-worth were not alleviated by the so-called cyberbullying, but rather, they were more worse.
